How 'Randomly' Picked Airport TV Show Leads Woman to Future Husband

7 hours ago 1

A woman delayed at an airport decided to watch a random TV documentary based in her hometown, not knowing it would lead to meeting her future husband.

Jordan Hart-Waldron (@jordanjanehart), 29, from Jameston, Pembrokeshire, in the U.K., a former professional badminton player, was on her way back home from Bratislava airport after competing in a match. While waiting out a delay, she decided to download a documentary based in her home county from BBC iPlayer, a British streaming service.

"I was feeling homesick and lonely," Hart-Waldron told Newsweek, so she downloaded The Hairy Bikers Go Local, a series where celebrity chefs, the late Si King and Dave Myers, go on foodie adventures across the U.K.

She later shared a video featuring a snapshot of Matt Waldron, 34, a chef, who appeared on the show, alongside a montage of their life together since she watched the episode. The post quickly garnered more than 4,400 likes and over 186,000 views.

Hart-Waldron was immediately captivated when the chef appeared on-screen—and was shocked she had never seen him before.

"When I saw Matt, I thought he was a really attractive and good-looking person, but I was also shocked because I had never seen him before and had no idea who he was. And he literally was living five minutes' drive from where I grew up. I was so shocked I didn't know who he was," Hart-Waldron said.

"I was really impressed by him and by how confident he was, and then I looked into his backstory a little bit. I sound like a stalker; I promise I'm not," she added with a laugh.

The 29-year-old followed Matt on Instagram, and he soon followed her back.

When Hart-Waldron later posted a story crossing the Severn Bridge—a bridge linking England and Wales over the River Severn—Matt liked it, prompting her to message him.

On the cooking show, Matt had prepared lobster ravioli, so Hart-Waldron cheekily asked him when he would make it for her.

The pair met for a date and began a whirlwind romance, making time for each other when they could, despite Hart-Waldron living away at the time.

They met at the start of 2023, and by September, they had already bought a house together. Lobsters have since become a recurring symbol in their relationship.

"We have a lot of lobsters around the house, and he's made me all the dishes he cooked on the show," Hart-Waldron said.

The couple booked their wedding for December 2024 before they were even engaged, knowing it was the only month the chef would be off work. In March 2024, they got engaged, and on December 7, 2024, they tied the knot—despite a red weather warning for a severe storm that day.

They didn't know if the ceremony at Manorbier Castle in Wales could go ahead until noon, when the registrars arrived just in time.

"It was the most amazing day. We planned it to be one big party," Hart-Waldron said.

The couple have since launched a private dining business, traveling across the country to bring their culinary expertise to clients' homes.

TikTok users were enamored with their unconventional love story.

"Congratulations! We need the in-between details, please!" commented one user.

"Is there one I could have, pls? I NEED this green flag energy in 2025," posted Kavan.

"This is beyond cute! Congratulations," added another.

"Girl, your life is like a rom-com," wrote Louise.
