The star of Sister Wives has never been one with the truth like he is with the lord. Kody Brown is known for spinning a web of tales to make himself look and feel better. However, eagle-eyed viewers who have been around Season 1 know when Kody is changing a part of his narrative. Usually, fans and his wives have no problem calling out his lousy behavior.
Kody Brown is full of poppycock
Since Season 19 started, fans have counted the number of times Kody has lied about a past incident. He used to be madly in love with all four of his wives, but bitterness slowly seeped in. The once jovial father of 18 has replaced his smile with a grimace, and nothing can be done until Kody agrees to move on with his life. Kody is livid that his first three wives have gained the strength to move forward while he has remained stuck in the past. But rewriting history isn’t going to help his hurt ego.
Kody tied the knot in 1990 with Meri Brown. In years prior, TLC cameras have shown Kody taking responsibility for his actions in a fight or squabble. Lately, however, Kody refuses to take any blame for the family issues. The attitude is maddening. Instead of admitting he let the ball drop with his first three marriages, he insists on blaming the ladies for not loving him enough. Kody’s reality is flawed, and nothing is making sense.
Kody Brown tells Meri Brown he never loved her
Season 19 of Sister Wives has shown Kody bluntly stating that he never loved Meri and shouldn’t have married her. But black-and-white footage shows Kody truly being into his first wife. Early seasons showed Kody doting on his wife and kissing her. The two used to have a regular date night, too. You wouldn’t put all this effort into a marriage if he couldn’t stand the person. I can agree that Kody’s feelings might have changed after Meri’s catfishing scandal, but to write off the entire relationship is ludicrous.
Kody has put a spin on his account of where everything went wrong. He told Meri that he thought of them as friends and never lovers. All these words were contradicted by earlier seasons’ in which their relationship was sweet. There is no doubt that, at one point, the two really loved one another.
Kody Brown believes he is perfect
Being married to someone like Kody would infuriate me, especially when he refuses to admit his part in the family feud. Kody once preached that “love should be multiplied, not divided,” yet he proudly keeps most of his family at arm’s length. The earlier seasons showed Kody as an interactive husband and father. But the moment his children have any opinions that contradict his own, he casts them away. Frankly, no one in the family trusts him. Perhaps the biggest lies have been about Janelle Brown and Christine Brown.
He has formulated some master plan, convincing himself that his wives talked badly about him. Christine might be a bit petty now, but she has been perfect for years and has often stood by his side. The most telling sign of Kody’s memory issues has to do with the retelling of his marriage ended. For Janelle, her ex’s lack of interest in their children was a turn-off. But Kody’s retelling of each divorce just gets wilder and wilder.
Kody Brown even fibs to Robyn Brown
What caught me off guard about Kody’s version of events is that he can’t keep his lies straight for Robyn Brown. He has protected his fourth and favorite wife for years at all costs. But he freaked out when she tried to throw him a lifesaver in a recent episode. While having their first ever on-camera fight, Robyn vented he wished her husband would reach out to the older children more. In a bald-faced lie, Kody tried to tell he had. Luckily, Robyn wasn’t born yesterday, and didn’t believe him. Kody stormed off, telling cameras, “Robyn is extremely upset that I’m not reaching out more to my children. I’m not gonna sit here and fight with you have a rift in our relationship caused by these people who have created the biggest rift in my life. I’m not doing that. So I just decided I need to take off.”
However, Robyn shed a brighter light on what was happening. She told fans, “If I were him, I would be calling, emailing, texting, maybe showing up, flying out there, you know, whatever.” Kody lives in a world without having to take off his rose-colored glasses. Even though he might think he is doing an excellent job at rewriting history, fans are keeping tabs on him to try to keep Kody an honest man.
