Hysterics Over Woman's Attempt to Recreate Balloon Santa: 'Picasso Vibes'

4 hours ago 3

A woman's attempt to recreate Santa out of balloon art has left social media users in hysterics, with many lauding the failed effort.

Inspired after seeing a Santa Claus figure made of balloons, TikTok user @mandawithanm tried to copy the design. However, her attempt to get into the festive spirit didn't quite go to plan, and her version of a balloon Santa has stunned the internet—for all the wrong reasons.

On December 11, the user posted a video on TikTok showing what she had intended to make and what she made instead. While the professional version was neat and instantly recognizable as Santa, the poster's attempt was one of a kind, to say the least.

TikTok users can't get enough of the differences between the Santas in the 15-second clip, which has received more than 5 million views and 700,000 likes. Newsweek has contacted @mandawithanm for comment via TikTok.

The poster wrote in the video's caption, "My attempt at balloon art! Merry Christmas ya'll!"

While craftiness and artistic ability seem to come naturally to some people, others can only dream of having that much talent. According to a 2023 YouGov poll of 1,000 U.S. adults, Americans are evenly split on whether they think they are artistic: 49 percent believe they are, while 48 percent don't consider themselves artistic at all.

The survey also found that younger adults were more likely to believe they had artistic talent compared to older Americans. While 58 percent of 18- to 44-year-olds believed they were arty, 41 percent of people aged 45 and over would say the same. Among the Americans who considered themselves artistic, 49 percent said painting came naturally to them, and 56 percent felt that way about drawing.

The Social Media Reaction

While the balloon Santa may not have gone to plan, it has delighted social media users, with many joking about what it actually resembles.

Fortunately for @mandawithanm, among the thousands of comments TikTok users left on the video, plenty praised her valiant attempt.

"I prefer yours, it's giving Picasso vibes," one viewer wrote, while another said, "I can't exactly explain it, but you know those odd looking goldfish."

"Yours is enjoying Christmas sooo much," a user commented.

Another added: "I like yours. He seems more enthusiastic."
