It’s been almost three decades since I Know What You Did Last Summer hit theaters — and it wouldn’t be 2024 if a reboot wasn’t in discussion! That’s right, the slasher film is reportedly getting a second chance at the box office with a brand new star-studded cast.

Who Is Starring in ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Reboot?

Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline is reportedly on the hook for the Sony Pictures film, along with Billy Campbell, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King.
In November 2024, was reported that The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s Lola Tung, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story‘s Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols and Gabbriette have rounded out the cast members of the anticipated sequel.
Freddie Prinze Jr. is confirmed to reprise his role from the original movies, with Jennifer Love Hewitt is in talks to return as well.
The slasher franchise will return to theaters on July 18, 2025.
“Listen, I loved doing those movies. There is nothing more fun than doing a horror movie. It’s the best. Julie James was awesome,” Jennifer told Us Weekly in May 2024 after the news of the reboot broke. “I do think that there’s unfinished business there, and so I would be happy to do it.”
For his part, Freddie gave some insight into the future of the series. “I read a script, I probably shouldn’t have said that but, yeah, I read a script,” he shared to ET in July 2024.
The actor further revealed that while he’s read the script, there’s still a lot of negotiations in the works. “I think both sides — them and me — are super motivated to get it done. My friend is directing the movie.”
“Negotiations are weird. One week they’re going great and the next week they’re going awful. We haven’t had an awful week so there could be an awful week [coming],” he added.
What Is ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Reboot About?
Not much is known about the plot for the reboot, but we can assume it may follow close to the original film. I Know What You Did Last Summer follow four friends who are being stalked by a villain with a hook after they tried to cover up hitting him with their car.
