Rebekah Vardy's pal Nicola McLean has unexpectedly thrown her support behind Coleen Rooney amid her stint in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Here! jungle. Despite feeling that Wayne Rooney's wife "hasn't had" significant airtime, likely because she's not "as loud as some of the others" in camp, she still believes she could clinch the title.
The ex-contestant, who competed on the show in 2008, reckons Coleen's time on the show could also reignite her public profile following her infamous Wagatha Christie court case against Rebekah Vardy. Chatting with Closer Magazine, Nicola said: "I really found myself as a person when I did I'm A Celebrity! I think it's a brilliant show to just reconnect with yourself.
"Coleen's a mum of four, her husband works away, which is not a negative, he works away, she's busy. Why not take time out, do the jungle, have a laugh and push yourself and find yourself?"
Ahead of Dean McCullough's exit, Nicola predicted him and Maura Higgins for the final, but echoed that Coleen will take the crown.
Additionally, Nicola said Rebekah would've probably been up for entering the jungle with Coleen, but believes it wouldn't be possible, contractually. The 43-year-old's opinion comes after she criticised Wayne Rooney's wife for publicly accusing Rebekah of leaking stories about her personal life to the press, while she was pregnant.
Rebekah, who has consistently denied the claims, took the dispute to court but lost her libel case. The wife of Jamie Vardy has since been sharing her opinion about this year's series, which has included some swipes at her rival.
The mother-of-five recently told The Sun that she would love to see Coleen munching on "penis" in the show, adding: "She likes to be the victim. I'll never forgive her." She also insinuated that the I'm A Celebrity contestant is emulating her by participating in the show, alleging she had "always wanted [her] life."
A confidant of Jamie Vardy's spouse has since said that Rebekah's efforts to attract positive attention through her new column have backfired, leading to more negativity. "Rebekah can't believe she is getting so much hate – she had hoped her column would have painted her in a positive way, but it is having the opposite effect," they disclosed to the publication.
Moreover, Rebekah has claimed her weight loss is down to a "stress diet", acknowledging: "It's all been too much with everything going on at the moment."
