An iconic singer from the 1990s was spotted performing a karaoke cover of his own song at a pub.
The star had been out with friends in Glasgow city centre when he decided to treat those in the boozer to a cover of his hit 1999 track. Drinkers in the popular pub sang along to the impromptu performance, which has delighted members of the public. Those watching online were elated to see the singer playing up to the small crowd.
The Horse Shoe Bar played host to the singer and his friends, with the frontman taking to Twitter/X with a clip of his sudden performance. He wrote: "When in the Horseshoe Bar after 9pm... and they put your song on..."
What followed was a stellar performance of the Travis hit Why Does It Always Rain on Me? from the group's second album, The Man Who. Fran Healy seems to have delighted those in attendance, with the viral clip of his performance leading to a series of cheeky replies from locals.
One member of the public joked they had "heard better" covers of the hit single from the same venue in reply to Fran's post. They wrote: "I've heard better versions in there!! Only joking - thanks for lighting up people's Christmas week." Travis replied: "I have too hahahaha."
Others have praised Fran as a "top man," with regular punters declaring it the best night of the pub's history. Another wrote: "What a pleasure, Fran. A definite highlight of my 30+ years as Horse Shoe compere. Thanks so much for being a top man. Hope you and the guys have an amazing gig tonight."
A third joked: "Well done mate - you didn't even have to look at the words once." It comes as Travis continues their tour around the UK, with a date in the OVO Hydro, Glasgow, shortly following this performance on December 20. The video was published the day after, on December 21, the day of Travis' performance.
Their Raze the Bar tour contained their hit song Why Does It Always Rain on Me? in the encore, as well as a cover of Paul McCartney's classic, Mull of Kintyre. Other The Man Who album rips were also featured in the set, with Driftwood, Turn, and Writing to Reach You all featured in the 19-song set.
