The Real Housewives of Potomac star Matthew Byars has died by suicide. He was close friends with Melissa Gorga and Karen Huger, who have been left heartbroken with grief.

Matthew Byers wasn’t a full-time cast member but was brought onto The Real Housewives of Potomac by his good friend Karen Huger. Melissa Gorga wrote how she “wishes she could have saved” Byars.

Matthew Byars has died. The Real Housewives of Potomac star was a talent manager who appeared on the Bravo show multiple times, after being introduced by Karen Huger.

The U.S. Sun revealed Byars died of suicide on November 21, 2024, according to Maryland’s Chief Office of Medical Examiner. A statement said: “He died of multiple blunt force injuries.”

Byars was part of Huger’s infamous “press conference,” where she tried to clear up rumors about her financial situation. In a 2019 interview with The Daily Dash, Huger revealed how she met Byars.

She had known Byars since he was at least 18. “I encourage Matt when life is difficult,” Huger said, who encouraged him to go to school. He was like family to her and attended her mother’s funeral.

Bravo stars have been rocked by Byars’ death

Tributes have been pouring in for Byars. Melissa Gorga was particularly affected by his death, writing that she “wishes she could have saved him” and regrets that he never pursued stand-up comedy.

Crystal Minkoff wrote underneath Gorga’s tribute post: “I had dinner with him last year and he spoke so highly of you. He truly loved you. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💔”

Margaret Josephs shared a tribute and said: “So heartbroken and devastated, I can’t believe this is true. We were together the last two weeks . Matty B the sweetest soul forever in our hearts we love you 🙏.”
