Pixar has launched an all-new spin off from it's record-breaking animated franchise featuring the voices of Paula Pell and Richard Ayoade

Inside Out fans can explore how dreams are made as an all-new spin-off from the hit franchise premieres today. Available to stream now, Dream Productions is a mockumentary-style comedy set between the events of the Inside Out films and returns to Riley’s mind, this time to explore the inner workings of the studio behind her dreams.

Its official synopsis reads: “From the world of Inside Out comes Dream Productions, an all-new Disney+ series about the studio inside Riley’s mind where dreams really do come true – every night, on time and on budget, thanks to acclaimed director Paula Persimmon (Paula Pell). Riley’s growing up and her core Emotions are on the job helping her navigate, but now Paula is facing a nightmare of her own: her signature combination of dreams featuring Rainbow Unicorn and copious amounts of glitter just isn’t working anymore.

“To try and save her career, Paula teams up with Xeni (Richard Ayoade), an overly confident daydream director looking for his next big break. With differing visions on what makes Riley’s dreams successful, can the reluctant pair come together to create the next big tween-dream hit?”

Dream Productions is streaming now on Disney+, which fans can join from £4.99 a month for the Standard with Ads plan. Members can save up to £25.98 by paying for a year up front on the Standard or Premium plan, bagging the equivalent of 12 months for the price of 10.

The Standard plan now costs £89.90, while the Premium plan is £129.90 and also includes higher video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, plus the ability to stream on four devices simultaneously. A Disney+ membership also includes hit shows and films like Deadpool & Wolverine and Only Murders in the Building, plus Christmas classics like Home Alone and Die Hard.

Dream Productions boasts a stellar voice cast led by Paula Pell as acclaimed dream director Paula Persimmon and Richard Ayoade as Xeni, a smug daydream director looking to step up into the big leagues of night dreams. They star alongside Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Alli Maki, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith.

The four-part miniseries is written and directed by Mike Jones, co-writer of Pixar hits Soul and Luca. It comes just six months after the release of Inside Out 2, which racked up almost $1.7 billion at the global box office and became the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

Ahead of the series launch, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter said: “We’re excited fans won’t have to wait long for more great content from the world of Inside Out. Dream Productions offers up a treasure trove of jokes and fun as it digs deeper into one of our favorite parts of the first film, the making of Riley’s dreams.”

Elsewhere, Sky has just unveiled a major shake-up of its TV packages, including the launch of its new Essential TV plan. For £15 a month, this comes with more than 100 channels on Sky Stream including Sky Atlantic, plus subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+, with film fans able to add Sky Cinema for £10.
