Social media viewers have lost their minds over a chocolate Labrador that has somehow embodied what it means to be awkward.
Juliana is the proud owner of Labrador Oakley Rose, who appears to be a normal dog in every way: Her TikTok account is filled with the pup relaxing, taking baths, enjoying snow days and playing in the garden.
But Oakley has a slight quirk: Every so often, she will sit beside her owner and look extremely awkward.
Oakley has gone viral several times for her odd mannerisms, racking up millions of views on Juliana's TikTok account, @juliana_burk. And in a clip shared on January 20, it happened again, with the video getting over 2.6 million likes and a whopping 13.4 million views.
It showed Oakley sitting on the couch beside her owner in a position that can only be described as awkward. Her shoulders appeared hunched, and her legs were splayed out beneath her. Her eyes are round and wide and flick from side to side shiftily, as though she is sitting in uncomfortable silence with a stranger.
Juliana wrote across the video: "Another awkward night with Oakley Rose" and added in a caption: "My awkward girly."
Newsweek has contacted @juliana_burk on TikTok for comment on this story.
TikTok users had a major response to the clip, one jokingly asking: "Lol how do you two know each other?" Another wrote: "Have you guys ever met?"
"Why is she so nervous?" another user asked alongside a series of laughing emojis.
Others found it relatable, with one saying Oakley's stance was "the vibe I bring to the function." Another wrote: "She's literally wondering if to attempt to make small talk, or if to just hope and pray you leave the room."
One commenter asked: "Did she walk into the wrong house?"
Dogs can feel awkward or uncomfortable but display these feelings in a different way to humans. A dog may growl, whine, expose its teeth or tuck its tail between its legs, which are clear signs it is uncomfortable, according to an article on the website Wag. Other dog body language indicating discomfort is the dog turning its back, lying with its head in its paws or wriggling and struggling to get away.
Labradors like Oakley Rose make popular family pets. They landed in second place in the American Kennel Club (AKC)'s 2023 list of the most popular dog breeds in the United States.
The breed is known for its active, friendly and outgoing nature and for being good with family, young children and other dogs, the AKC said.
