Apple released iOS 18.2 beta 3 to developers today. It’s not as dramatic of an update as the first two betas, but there are a couple of changes worth pointing out.
iOS 18.2 beta 3 is available to developer beta testers with build number 22C5131e. A new version of the public beta will likely be released later this week.
iOS 18.2 beta 3 is available to all iPhones capable of running iOS 18. Apple Intelligence features, of course, are still limited to iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models.
What’s new in iOS 18.2 beta 3?
Camera Control
There’s a new option in the Settings app to disable the “Require Screen On” option for the Camera Control. This means you can open the Camera app with a single press, regardless of whether or not your iPhone 16’s screen is on.
CarPlay icons
As spotted by Aaron Perris, Apple is continuing to tweak the icons for next-generation CarPlay. While still not available on a single vehicle, iOS 18.2 beta 3 updates the “Media” and “Climate” app icons for the upgraded CarPlay experience coming this year.
Photos app change
Apple has made a small but notable change to the Photos app. In iOS 18.2 beta 3, when you tap on a video in the Photos app, it no longer zooms in or out. Instead, both the video scrubber and the gallery view at the bottom remain visible over the video.

TV app customization on iPad
In iPadOS 18.2 beta 3, the navigation bar in the TV app is now customizable. You can add any sidebar item to the tab bar, including channels, apps, library sections, and sports.

More changes in iOS 18.2 beta 3

- The AirPlay icon in the share sheet has been very slightly redesigned.
