Is Zach Bryan’s Song ‘Pink Skies’ About Grace O’Malley? Inside the Song’s Real Meaning

1 week ago 4

Dave Portnoy continues to expose more about Zach Bryan and his ex-relationship with Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia — such as the shocking inspiration behind the country singer’s popular track, “Pink Skies.”

The Barstool Sports founder released his second diss track for the “28” singer, which included a reference to the song from Zach’s most recent album, The Great American Bar Scene — which is reportedly about his ex-girlfriend’s best friend, Grace O’Malley.

Dave’s second song (after “Smallest Man” was taken down music platforms) is called “Country Diddy,” and was posted on social media platforms on Sunday, November 10. Within the lyrics, the CEO made a comment that raised some eyebrows.

“Say you hate Grace that you’re nothing alike,” Dave raps on the track. “Then the song ‘Pink Skies’ is based on her life?”

Social media users were quick to react to the line, as it’s been pretty well-known that Zach and Grace didn’t like one another while Brianna was dating the country singer — however, no one had ever heard about the “Pink Skies” tidbit before now.

“Can someone explain how pink skies is about Grace?” one TikTok commenter asked about the “Pink Skies” reference. Brianna, who turned down a $12 million NDA from her ex in order to speak her truth about the relationship, was quick to weigh in.

“Because I forced him to go to her grandmas funeral he screamed at me then wrote it that night,” the podcast host claimed.

“Pink Skies” was released in May as the lead single from his 2024 album, and has become one of his most popular songs to date. At the time of its release, he shut down any speculation that it was about his life — but stayed vague.

“’Pink Skies’ wasn’t inspired by my story. Everytime I sing about someone dying people assume it’s about my mom, this definitely was not,” he shared via X. (Zach’s mom, Annette, died in 2016.) “I just think all the dynamics in families are beautiful and interesting and generationally it’s a really cool thing.”

ICYMI, Zach confirmed his and Brianna’s breakup on his Instagram Stories on October 22, over a year after they began dating in June 2023. In response, Brianna shared her own statement and a YouTube video, expressing that she felt “blindsided” by the post.

Following the breakup announcement, Brianna’s “BFFs” podcast cohosts, which include Dave and Josh Richards, posted a diss track for Zach, followed by an episode where she went on to explain what really went down behind-the-scenes during her relationship with the “I Remember Everything” singer.
