ITV Coronation Street fans 'rumble' Joel Deering's killer as exit is confirmed

1 week ago 1

Coronation Street fans have been left guessing over who murdered Joel Deering (portrayed by Calum Lill), with the killer's identity set to be unveiled on Friday (November 15). All that is known so far is that Joel was slain on the evening of September 27, presumably with a heavy object like a crowbar, and his body was discovered in a river.

The ITV soap will broadcast a special episode where audiences will witness exactly what transpired on the night of Joel's demise, and the truth will at last come to light. However, some viewers are already certain they've identified the murderer - Sabrina Adetiba.

In the episode aired on Monday night, Sabrina visited Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton) in hospital, wishing her well for her relationship with Max Turner (Paddy Bever).

As Sabrina maintained that Lauren deserved happiness after all she had endured because of Joel, Lauren highlighted that she had almost met the same end.

Luana Santos first graced the screen as Sabrina Adetiba in June 2023, swiftly embarking on a relationship with Max. Earlier this year, she became a target of Joel, who had been grooming and mistreating young women, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Coronation Street's Joel Deering

Fortunately, Sabrina's mate Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) grew wary of Joel's intentions, and managed to divert him away from Sabrina. Nonetheless, the actress has now confirmed her departure from the ITV drama.

Earlier this week, Luana took to her Instagram Stories to share that the upcoming episodes would mark her last appearance on the Manchester-based soap, posting a nostalgic snapshot from her debut episode.

However, some Corrie enthusiasts are convinced that Sabrina is Joel's murderer and suggest that the actress's social media update might be misleading. A fan speculated on Reddit: "Could the killer be... (The mildest of mild spoilers if you haven't watched Mondays yet) Sabrina? ".

"We haven't seen her in months and she suddenly pops up now to wish Max and Lauren well, and we've been told the actress has already filmed her final scenes. It's very rarely someone in the official suspect list and she isn't in it, although she had her own near-miss with Joel. Maybe, maybe."

Another added: "If she did kill Joel it would be the most interesting thing she ever did on the show by far. I think this is plausible tbh though, like you say it's odd that she's popped up out of nowhere and she also had a near miss with Joel and two friends who were victimised more heavily so it's not like she's without motive ."

A third contributed: "Could be - she's not been seen in months and it was announced she was leaving, which is unusual for a character barely on more than an extra. Then she popped up the other day and gave an emotional hug to Lauren. I don't think it's any of the people we've seen flashbacks from so far, they're all red herrings.."

Additionally, a commenter speculated on the plot, saying: "It could also mean Sabrina had an accomplice, which would be her brother... and as we know Gav has also left, well this could be a chance to get rid of him in a script writing sense! " added another.
