ITV I'm A Celebrity fans suspect Ant 'loathes' campmate as tensions arise in the jungle

Fans of I'm A Celebrity are speculating whether Ant McPartlin dislikes one of his campmates after spotting an awkward on-air interaction between the pair.

Ant and his co-host Dec came face-to-face with Dean McCullough on Sunday as the radio host faced his fifth bushtucker trial so far.

The BBC Radio 1 presenter made light of his bad luck when he arrived at the trial area with Coleen Rooney, who was also voted to tackle the gruelling challenge.

Encountering the hosts again, Dean joked: "We need to stop meeting like this," the Mirror reports.

Dec laughed in response, but Ant appeared to merely feign a smile. Dean continued: "I told ya I didn't want another date," making Ant laugh briefly before he returned to a the same expression as before.

Dec returned: "Our fifth date now at the Bushtucker trial clearing."

Viewers were quick to pick up on the awkward dynamic, and many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "Ant literally looks like he hates Dean," while another commented: "Ant hates Dean so much omg. His face says it all."

A third tweeted: "Ant can't stand Dean you can tell." and a further user stressed: "Ant's expression when looking at Dean is 'barely concealed disdain'."

Alongside a laughing emoji, one fan wrote: "He f***ing loathes him" while another added: "Ant going over and above to try and be nice to Dean because we've caught on that he doesn't like him is TV GOLD."

Ant's visible dislike of Dean comes after he admitted that his "annoyance came across onscreen" during a previous trial that Dean quit after winning four stars.

Speaking on the spin-off show I'm A Celebrity ... Unpacked earlier this week, Ant said: "My annoyance came across onscreen. I was unprofessional. I'm not happy about it."

After Sunday's programme, Ant encouraged viewers to stop voting for Dean to give other celebrities a chance to take on future trials.

During the latest episode of Unpacked, host Joel Dommett asked Ant: "What do you think about Dean doing the trial again tomorrow?"

Ant replied with a message for viewers at home: "Right. Let's all have a serious talk. I'm going to look directly into the camera here. I think it's good to see other faces down there."

He continued: "This is not a personal thing. It's not about Dean, it's about us just seeing different people down there. And I think we want to see different people on the show being featured. Some people unfortunately aren't getting [screen time]."

The presenter named Barry McGuigan, Melvin Odoom and Oti Mabuse as examples of other celebrities he would want to see take on a bushtucker trial in the future.
