Viewers of The Chase were left seething at Shaun Wallace, accusing the show of being "fixed". Monday's episode saw Shaun go head-to-head with contestants Stephen, Rachel, Tom and Bev.
Stephen, a 42-year-old product development manager, was the first to challenge the Dark Destroyer. He showcased his impressive knowledge in the cash builder round, bringing £7,000 to the table.
Despite this, he chose not to risk taking the high offer and stuck with his original sum. Shaun was on top form during the first head-to-head, not missing a single question and knocking Stephen out, dealing a huge blow to the team.
However, his winning streak abruptly ended when he faced Rachel. The 20-year-old student earned £4,000 in the cash builder, but chose to take the low offer of £1,000 in an attempt to return to the team, according to the Daily Star.
Shaun incorrectly guessed that lambswool gets heavier when it burns, rather than steel wool, allowing Rachel to extend her lead. They were then asked: "What part of the Statue of Liberty is approximately 29 feet long? " While Rachel correctly guessed torch, Shaun thought the answer was crown.
In another surprising move, Shaun guessed 'practical joke' when asked: "A corny joke or pun is known by what expression? " instead of 'dad joke'. He then incorrectly guessed that there was only one American state beginning with 'T', rather than two.
'The Dark Destroyer' caused quite a stir with his performance, leading to bewildered reactions from the audience.
One viewer took to Twitter, stating: "Surely Shaun is letting her get through. He can't be that stupid. Surely."

Another was surprised at his round, remarking: "Shaun gets more wrong in this round than the other Chasers usually do in the whole show."
The skepticism continued with a comment: "Has Shaun got any questions right? ? " And another fan expressed their incredulity: "Nah, there is no way Shaun Wallace is getting some of these questions, genuinely, wrong. He's being told to put the wrong answers! " A particularly frustrated fan exclaimed: "Shaun Wallace doesn't know what a dad joke is? Oh f*** off! He's a mastermind champion and here he is helping to fix The Chase."
Despite the murmurings of foul play, Shaun displayed his quizzing prowess by sending 32-year-old Tom home.
His teammates Bev and Rachel fought bravely in the final chase with £8,000 on the line but fell short as Shaun caught them effortlessly with 31 seconds remaining, even after they managed an impressive 15 correct responses.
