J. Cole and Dreamville Records will be releasing a new audio series detailing the rapper’s career arc and unveiling unreleased music created along that journey.

On Sunday (November 17), J. Cole announced the project, titled Inevitable, in a post on his own Instagram account, expressing his excitement to share his story with fans and provide an unfiltered glimpse into his come-up.

“When I heard it with fresh ears, I was glued to the story as if it was somebody else’s,” the Hip-Hop star wrote. “At times I could feel my adrenaline rush when hearing about the ups and the many downs and how it all played out in the end.

“I got so much clarity from it, and I understood more than ever the power of having a dream, the power of fueling that dream with strong vision, the magic that happens when we stay in alignment with God, and the darkness that can come in the times that we don’t.”

He continued, adding that he believes Inevitable could be a great source of inspiration for aspiring artists looking to find their own success in the music industry, as it takes them behind the curtains of he and his team’s own process.

“If I was a younger version of myself, I know that I would get so much fuel from hearing this from somebody that went for theirs and ‘made it.’” Cole said. “For that reason, I think it’s worth sharing.”

The Grammy Award winner concluded his message by voicing his appreciation for his fans while providing words of encouragement to those striving to accomplish their own goals, even in the face of adversity.

“So, if you rocked with me at any point so far on my journey, I hope this will give you even more perspective and fill in a lot of blanks,” he wrote.

“If you have your own dream in life that you hope to achieve, in any field, I hope that this will feed your spirit, giving you confidence to believe in that dream and the encouragement to push through the tough times. To go for it even when you may be afraid to.”

The first season of Inevitable premieres on Monday (November 18) at 6pm ET/3pm PT via the Inevitable official website and will cost $10 to purchase.

Created by Cole, Dreamville Records co-founder Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, and director Scott Lazer, Inevitable will include multiple seasons, and is described as “raw and reflective” in its approach. “Jermaine Cole takes listeners on an unfiltered voyage through his life, career, and personal evolution, using both released and unreleased music to guide the story,” a synopsis of the film reads.

“Through conversation with Ibrahim Hamad and Scott Lazer, Season 1 finds Cole recounting his journey from his early days as a young, aspiring rapper to finally seeing his dreams become a reality, despite the many hurdles and pitfalls he faces along the way.”

This is not the first time Dreamville Records has released visual and audio content to document their stories and accompany music. In 2019, the label released a film detailing the making of its Revenge of the Dreamers 3 compilation.
