You know J.D. Vance — Donald Trump's running mate who definitely did not fuck a couch.
He's also the man who has received countless critiques for his anti-LGBTQ+ stances throughout his career. Like in 2022 when he told the far-right group Mission: America that he'd "vote no" on the Respect for Marriage Act, which ensured protections for same-sex couples. Similarly, he introduced a bill last year designed to ban minors' access to transition-related medical care, NBC News reports.
Well, during a recent sit-down interview for Joe Rogan's podcast, Vance made a comment that's raised a few eyebrows.
While speaking about a friend of his who is gay and Republican, Vance began drawing comparisons between them and members of the LGBTQ+ community who he characterized as “crazy.” He went on to say, "I think that frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if me and Trump won just the normal gay guy vote."

"Oh sure," Rogan interjected.
Then Vance continued: "Because, again, they just want to be left the hell alone."
A clip of the moment quickly went viral, gaining over 10.3 million views on X in under 24 hours, and it largely drew in the same response that can be summed up thusly: "WTF is the 'normal gay guy vote?'"
He's appalling. WTF is the "normal gay guy vote?"

Gay men from varying backgrounds jumped in as well, unafraid to tell Vance exactly what they think of his comment:

idk what the “normal gay guy vote” is but I played varsity soccer through high school, run 40 miles a week, love Always Sunny — and I would rather eat glass and take a bath with a toaster than cast a ballot for his closeted ass https://t.co/a1QaxHda5S

As someone who has been classified as a ‘normal gay guy’ by conservatives my whole life, absolutely not. The gay men voting for Trump are just like him: they’re miserable, vain, attention seeking, self-centered perpetual victims. And above all they’re hated by their community. https://t.co/Lfp7m1jO7E

And allies couldn't help but share their two cents:
Yeah, no. Every gay person I know has already voted for Kamala Harris because gay people are smart and know we don't do well under fascism. Also Trump's first presidency was incredibly anti-LGBTQ and did serious damage to queer and trans people as I reported over 4yrs.
