Jacquees returned home to Atlanta for the second installment of Verizon’s 5G Home Concert in the City series. With the city’s picturesque skyline setting the mood, day-one Jacquees fans and R&B lovers alike packed a downtown rooftop bar to be serenaded by the self-proclaimed King of R&B.
Attendees entered the REVERB rooftop bar, where vintage television screens filled the space while roses adorned the stage and speakers. The house DJ played a slew of 90s R&B hits to warm up the eager crowd ready to welcome Jacquees to the stage - and welcome him they did.
The Atlanta native kicked off his show with tracks from his latest studio album, Baby Making (2024), before diving into fan-favorite classics such as Your Peace, Ocean, Who’s and a host of other hits from his discography. In between performances of songs like Just Another Love Song and Risk It All, Jacquees took a moment to acknowledge his hometown and the many R&B powerhouses that have also called Atlanta home.
Despite Jacquees’ mic being on—a colloquial phrase used by fans to describe a singer’s vocal prowess—he and Bluff City, his male-duo background singers, were at times nearly drowned out by the enthusiastic crowd, who sang along to every lyric.
This excitement wasn’t exclusive to just Jacquees’ fans. Attendees of the Verizon’s 5G Home Concert in the City series have shared similar experiences throughout the tour. Verizon tapped four artists to perform across the country, giving fans the opportunity to experience some of music’s most talented artists in intimate venues. Boundaries singer-songwriter Sinéad Harnett kicked-off the tour in Houston before passing the baton to Jacquees for his Atlanta show.
Jacquees delivered a performance infused with his signature style while playing homage to his R&B forefathers - proving once again that he’s true to the genre and the culture. A kingly act indeed.
