Jaime King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, is pleading with the court for a restraining order against the actress prohibiting her from coming near him or their children, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Kyle, 48, filed his petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, October 23, seeking protection and sole physical custody of their two sons: James Knight and Leo Thames.
He asked that Jaime, 45, be ordered to stay away from his home, his workplace and his children’s school. Kyle also asked that Jamie be ordered to submit to drug and alcohol testing.
“The children are currently in danger when in their mother’s care. Jaime King is suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and is emotionally abusing and neglecting our children; placing them in danger and exposing them to many disturbing people and situations, including sexual content. The children are begging me to help rescue them from the chaos in their mother’s home,” Kyle wrote.
Kyle asked that Jamie be granted limited visitation with their children that would be professionally monitored.
In his declaration, Kyle claimed Jaime has a history of “severe drug and alcohol abuse and has had a major relapse endangering the safety and wellbeing of our children in her custodial care.”
He claimed to have went to Jaime’s house last week at 7:30 a.m. after getting a call from their children. He said he found Jaime on the floor “incoherent and surrounded by guests with whom she has been partying all night. I removed the children from the house and they have not been back to Jaime’s house since.”
Kyle claimed he was aware of two separate Department of Children and Family Services reports made by the children’s therapist and by their school counselor in the last week.
“There is an active police investigation,” he said. “Our children are in grave danger if Jaime is to resume custody, as she continues to drive them while wholly under the influence, have strange men show up to the house and sends them to sleep in the boys rooms and the children are so petrified that they asked to speak to the judge so that they don’t have to go back to their mother’s house.”
Kyle added, “Jaime loves our children and we want her to get help — I am, however, unable to force her to get help and cannot allow our children to be in a constant state of danger and abuse as a result of Jaime’s addiction issues.”
He continued, “Without strong orders, I am afraid that Jaime will continue to game the system — she has been sanctioned twice by two different judges in our family law matter and refuses to follow court orders, like the judgment that requires her to not be intoxicated when the children are in her custody.”
The judge has yet to rule.
Back in May 2020, Jaime filed for divorce from Kyle after nearly 13 years of marriage. The exes met on the set of the film Fanboys, which Kyle directed. The divorce turned ugly quickly.
In court documents, obtained by TMZ Kyle demanded primary custody of their children due to Jaime’s alleged addiction issues. He claimed things were so bad that he and her friends staged an intervention.
Kyle said Jaime went to the famed Cirque Lodge rehab facility in Utah. However, he said she didn’t stay because she tried to check in with certain medications. At the time, Jaime said she agreed to check into the facility to prove she was drug-free.
At another point, Kyle accused Jaime of failing to pay the court ordered child and spousal support.
He said she had not coughed up the $429 per month in child support and the $1,000 in spousal support she owed.
The divorce drama ended for a brief period when a settlement was entered in September 2023. The court battle is now back on.
