Actor James Van Der Beek, famous in Spain for starring in the series 'Dawson's Creek', is battling colon and rectal cancer.
The popular 47-year-old performer was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer and explained to People that he is already receiving treatment.
"I have cancer. I've been dealing with this diagnosis privately and have been taking steps to deal with it, with the support of my incredible family," James Van Der Beek said.
"That said, there are reasons to be optimistic and I feel good," said the actor, who played the role of Dawson Leery from 1998 until 2003.
Recently, James Van Der Beek has appeared in the series 'Walker' and will soon star in 'Sidelined: The QB and Me'.
James Van Der Beek is married to Kimberly and they have six children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah.
