Rockstar Jared Leto's latest casting role has stunned fans.
The singer, 52, is set to feature in Amazon MGM’s live-action He-Man outing Masters of the Universe. The actor is taking on the part of the franchise's most important villain, Skeletor.
The adaptation, directed by Bumblebee helmer Travis Knight, will be the second live-action interpretation and follows the 1987 offering which featured Dolph Lundgren. The movie adaptation is not due for release until June 2026, but fans have been left less than impressed with the news.
Taking to Twitter /X, fans unleashed their fume at the casting call, with one user saying: "Jared Leto has just been cast as Skeletor. I'll let this gif do the talking." The gif showed Skeletor saying no before punching through glass.
Another added: "So… last week I watched the animated Tolkien stuff and it got me in the mood to give Masters of the Universe another whirl, so that’s what I’ve been up to this week… AS THEY CAST JARED LETO AS SKELETOR?! Stop casting him in things! that’s the best character ugh…"
A third said: "Amazon MGM self sabotaging in a way that is damn near admirable, wtf you mean you cast JARED LETO as Skeletor??," while a fourth joked: "my god i saw “ jared” and “news” and thought news dropped that jared leto was going to play skeletor my heart dropped to my stomach omg."
Although He-Man is the central character of Masters of the Universe, the character of Skeletor has become a huge fan favourite over the decades. This is mainly due to his over-the-top nature and screechy voice.

Last year, Jared was also cast in a terrifying Netflix film that saw a number of fans switch off after just two minutes due to fear. The Little Things is a powerhouse film, but its thrilling nature may have proved too much for some, as some fans couldn't stand to watch it.
Also starring Denzel Washington and Rami Malek, the movie synopsis on IMDB reads: "Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe Deacon is sent to Los Angeles for what should have been a quick evidence-gathering assignment. Instead, he becomes embroiled in the search for a serial killer who is terrorising the city."
