When The Valley star Brittany Cartwright kicked Jax Taylor out of their home, he moved into a $5,600-a-month townhouse.
Even though Jax is in a new place, he already has a friend next door. His neighbor in the conjoined unit is none other than Vanderpump Rules alum Tom Schwartz.
Jax signed the lease for the two-bedroom townhouse sight unseen while he was in a mental health facility over the summer. He must have seen the writing on the wall and known what was ahead upon his release.
Jax Taylor is sharing a wall with neighbor and BFF Schwartz
The modern industrial-style townhouse comes equipped with all the amenities: marble countertops, a washer/dryer, and a two-car garage. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the Valley, the new build is lightyears from the cramped West Hollywood apartment he and Britt started out in.
The U.S. Sun reports that the new apartment is less than a 10-minute drive from his Studio City Bar. He’s also right next door to one of his best buddies, Schwartz. While not roommates, the long-time pals share a wall and have nearly identical living spaces.
Back in 2019, Jax and Britt followed several of their VPR castmates to Valley Village, where they purchased their $2.2 million farmhouse. They joined former couple Schwartz and his then-wife Katie Maloney, as well as Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix. All three couples have since split.
Jax and Brittany lived in the house for five years, welcoming their son Cruz, 3, before separating in February 2024. In July, Jax entered an in-patient mental health treatment center. While he was away, Britt started the ball rolling on their divorce, serving him papers upon his return.
No, Jax and Schwartz are not “roommates”
Though he loves his new place, Jax clarified he doesn’t live with Schwartz. They are not “roommates.”
“Everyone keeps saying, do I live with Tom Schwartz?” he said on his When Reality Hits podcast. “I do not live with Tom Schwartz. He has a townhouse that is next to mine, but they are completely separate.”
“We have our own building, but we do not live together,” he continued. “He is my best friend at the end of the day. And if I need help with something, if I need help with Cruz, he’s right there. [Tom] loves Cruz, and when Cruz gets to come over here, he’s gonna love hanging out with Uncle Tom.”
Even though they’re not roomies, Jax appreciates having his best bud nearby, someone who’s weathered some similar life experiences.
“Having my best friend who’s gone through a divorce and we’re the same age, it really, really helps,” the former bartender said. “I’ve been with my wife for 10 years, and now I’m alone. So having my best friend nearby is very, very helpful.”
“I have a couple other buddies that live down the street,” he added. “I know everyone’s thinking like, ‘Oh my gosh, they’re just going to [have] a crazy, party life,’ [but] that’s not true.”
After all, Jax is 45 and a dad now. Hopefully, his wild, party days are in the past.
The Valley is now streaming on Peacock.
