Jenna Lyons Discusses ‘Devastating’ RHONY Finale: ‘I Have Compassion’

Everyone is going to need some time to catch their breath after that shocking season finale for The Real Housewives of New York. And while the cast is still reeling from the fallout, Jenna Lyons shared she is trying to have some compassion ahead of the RHONY reunion.

We all knew things would change for the New York ladies. During an interview back in October, Jessel Taank teased that Brynn Whitfield and Ubah Hassan’s feud would last all season. And boy was she right.

Their beef did indeed last. It kept getting worse and worse until it came to a head in the finale when Ubah alleged that Brynn may have traded sexual favors to be cast in the show.

It was harsh, and Brynn made it worse by sharing that Ubah hit a new low with what she said. She claimed that Ubah knew that she was dealing with past sexual assault trauma and that she was still part of support groups for this.

Ubah vehemently denied ever knowing any of that. And eventually, Brynn walked it back saying, “Come to think of it, maybe she didn’t clock it.”

No wonder no one has recovered from that finale yet. Brynn even called it traumatizing referring to it as the “Hot Tub Time Machine from Hell.”

For her part, Jenna tried to be open-minded. On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she admitted it was “devastating” to see it play out on the screen when it aired. When asked how she felt when Ubah claimed not to know anything, she said.

“Ubah came running down the hall and I could see the emotion in her face and I knew in that moment, there’s no way she knew. There’s no way she could have known. She was so distraught.”

As for Brynn, Jenna has tried to show “tenderness” but she thinks it’s a bit too much. “I think that there have been things with Brynn that made me unclear about her intentions. But I also know she embellishes and I have compassion for that. But this time, I think it went too far.”

Jenna also seemed pretty done in the reunion trailer when she told Brynn to “stop talking.”

The Real Housewives of New York two-part reunion kicks off Tuesday, January 28, at 9 pm on Bravo.
