Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck Reportedly Have Strong Feelings About This J.Lo-Related Issue

Ben Affleck‘s divorce from Jennifer Lopez might be having a greater effect on his family than he ever imagined. As he and his three kids, Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, navigate their way through the 52-year-old actor’s breakup, one of his children still is drawn to the Lopez family. 

Affleck and Jennifer Garner‘s oldest daughter has stayed close to Lopez and the rest of her family. Lynda Lopez, J.Lo’s younger sister, posted an Instagram snapshot of her visit to Yale University where Violet goes to school over the weekend. “New Haven with my favorite Yalie,” wrote Lynda along with a selfie with the teen. Violet, dressed in a white Patagonia coat, looked so happy to see her step-aunt who cozied up behind her. 

It’s sweet for Violet to maintain her bond with her ex-stepmother’s family, but it’s reportedly uncomfortable for Affleck and Garner. “Violet has a strong attachment to JLo and her family,” a source explained to the Daily Mail. ‘It’s quite confusing to Ben and Jen [Garner] because they do not understand why Violet is so adamant on keeping her close. She looks up to JLo and Lynda and is intent on keeping the bond alive.”

Lynda apparently was the proactive one who “reached out to her and said she wanted to come visit,” but it’s likely an awkward connection with Affleck’s divorce still pending from the 55-year-old superstar. Affleck allegedly found out about the visit like everyone else — from media reports. He and Garner understand that their daughter is an adult making her own decisions, but they would prefer if she kept her Lopez family interactions offline for now.

Violet’s decision to stay close to J.Lo shouldn’t be surprising though. In July, the duo was spotted together in the Hamptons, arm-in-arm while they shopped and ate lunch together. “They both seem so happy to be spending this time together and are just enjoying the moment,” a source told People. The close relationship might not make Violet’s dad happy while he’s trying to exit the marriage, but it shows that something lovely came out of the Bennifer 2.0 reunion.
