Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may have ended their romantic relationship, but according to sources close to the pair, they have no intention of cutting ties completely.
Despite their high-profile split just four months ago, the two stars remain committed to maintaining a connection for the sake of their children.
"They have every intention of continuing to be in each other's lives despite not being romantically involved," a source told Page Six. "Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids."
The couple's relationship has been one for the Hollywood history books. They first met on the set of their 2002 film "Gigli", and their whirlwind romance led to an engagement later that year. But in January 2004, just before their planned wedding, the couple called it quits.
Nearly two decades later, in 2021, they rekindled their love and got engaged once again. Fans were thrilled to see "Bennifer" back together, with the pair officially tying the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony on July 17, 2022, followed by a grander celebration in Georgia.
But by August 2024, on the two-year anniversary of their Georgia wedding, Lopez filed for divorce, marking the end of their second attempt at marriage. Despite this, both stars have made it clear that their family ties remain strong.
Blended family still a priority
Sources say that the former couple maintains a "mutual respect" for one another. While their romance may be over, they still feel a sense of responsibility to each other's families.
"Obviously, things haven't been the same, but they have a lot of history," an insider told Page Six.
This sense of shared history extends to their children, who attend the same school, ensuring that the exes frequently cross paths at events for their kids. In fact, just last week, Affleck, Lopez, and Jennifer Garner (Affleck's ex-wife) were all seen together at a school play in Los Angeles.
They attended to support Affleck and Garner's 15-year-old daughter Seraphina, as well as Lopez's 16-year-old child, Emme, whom she shares with singer Marc Anthony.
"Ben and Jennifer remain amicable whenever they do see each other," the insider revealed. "They're still close with each other's children, and even though they don't have a co-parenting type of relationship, they still feel like a blended family in a lot of ways."
