Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were seemingly friendly one day before finalizing their divorce.
The “All I Have” singer, 55, was spotted visiting her estranged husband at his California home on Sunday, January 5, in photos obtained by the Daily Mail. Jennifer looked cozy chic for the meetup, wearing a pair of loose light wash jeans, platform UGG boots and a tan cropped long-sleeve shirt.
The pair weren’t alone. Jen was seen smiling as she hugged Ben’s son, Samuel, whom he shares with his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. J. Lo’s 16-year-old child, Emme, also made an appearance, stepping out of the property with a large gift in hand, followed closely by Ben, 52.
The meetup occurred just one day before In Touch confirmed the now-exes finalized their divorce, more than six months after Jennifer filed in August 2024 — a date that coincidentally marked the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding. She filed the paperwork without a lawyer and didn’t state if she and Ben had a prenup at the time. Additionally, the Wedding Planner actress listed April 26, 2024, as their date of separation.
Ben and Jen walked away with a clean slate as they will keep their financial earnings for their various projects during their marriage, TMZ reported on Monday, January 6. The Air actor retained his role and stake in Artists Equity, the “highly successful” production company he cofounded with his best friend and longtime collaborator Matt Damon in November 2022.
Furthermore, Jennifer and Ben reached a confidential agreement on their $61 million Beverly Hills home that is currently on the market.
Despite their split, J. Lo and Ben were spotted meeting up for lunch at Soho House in Los Angeles on December 22, 2024, where they reportedly exchanged gifts. For his Christmas gift to his ex, Ben “purchased an autographed Marlon Brando book” from Mystery Pier Books in West Hollywood, California, the store’s owner, Louis Jason, told Page Six, adding that the Good Will Hunting star bought “a few books.”
A source told the outlet that “Ben gifted Jennifer with the book because she’s a fan, plus her Super Bowl bodysuit was inspired by Marlon Brando.”
The insider added, “The gifts were mostly for each other’s kids, but they did exchange a few small things for each other as well. It was nothing over the top, but more so a gesture to celebrate the holidays. Ben and Jennifer have remained amicable despite the ongoing divorce proceedings.”
In Touch first reported on May 15, 2024, that Ben and J. Lo were “headed for a divorce” and that the Gone Girl actor had already moved out of their home in Beverly Hills.
“The writing is on the wall – it’s over,” a source exclusively revealed, adding that Ben was “not to blame.”
Ben and Jen have a long history, first beginning their love story in the early 2000s and were set to walk down the aisle in 2003 before abruptly canceling their wedding and breaking up. Nearly 20 years later, the pair rekindled their romance and eloped in July 2022, hosting a formal wedding ceremony one month later.
