Jennifer Lopez's 2025 gets off to fairytale start as she begins to leave behind Ben Affleck

Everything has a beginning and an end, but not everything is as documented and covered as a Hollywood love story. Or a love story that was meant to be and didn't work out. The latter certainly applies to Jennifer Lopez's rocky marriage with Ben Affleck, which came crumbling down over the past year and was mercifully finalized in January.

Since Lopez filed for divorce back in August, the two have attempted to go their separate ways. It hasn't fully been the case due to the bond their respective children developed, and Lopez seemingly has held out a small sliver of hope that the relationship could be saved. That hasn't been the case, though, as Affleck has purchased a new home for himself and Lopez appears likely to do the same soon.

While everyone tries to turn a new leaf, Lopez is hoping for a big 2025 to get over Affleck and a brutal 2024. She's gotten off to a great start, earning the "Legend & Groundbreaker Award" at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Just recently, Lopez was also reportedly "close to tears" during the premiere of "Kiss of the Spider Woman" at the Sundance Film Festival. According to New York Post's Johnny Oleksinski, the crowd there gave Lopez a standing ovation.

There was a standing ovation, not for the movie - which is important, I think - but for her. The audience leapt to their feet when she walked out onto the stage of the Eccles Theatre. Same theater where Best Picture nominees like 'Call Me By Your Name,' 'Boyhood,' Whiplash' and 'Little Miss Sunshine' premiered. That had to have been validating for someone who rarely gets that kind of recognition.

That kind of recognition will be a great source of motivation for Lopez, who has so often been the victim of online vitriol and criticism. With eyes wide open heading into the rest of 2025, she appears determined to make it her rebound year and more.
