TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he's found a new lifestyle that he's been following since his recent heart surgery to be "horrific".

It was announced last week that Jeremy, 64, had a stent fitted in his heart recently. The Clarkson's Farm star - who's experienced various health issues in the past - said he had the procedure after a "sudden deterioration" in his health.

The news has since led to discussion about his lifestyle and Jeremy, who's described the surgery as having been "extremely urgent," has now discussed what's been recommended to him in the wake of the experience. Amid his recovery, Jeremy has revealed that he's not impressed with the advice, adding that he wasn't concerned about the procedure itself, but has found it "scary" being told how to now live his life after the surgery.

Writing in an article for the Sun, he said: "Literally, I am not allowed to have fun any more." Jeremy said that it's "terrifying" and went on to discuss various changes to his lifestyle. He teased that it includes having "elderflower juice" at parties and leaving at about 9.30pm. Unimpressed, Jeremy added that he's been told to reduce his workload too, saying that he's been encouraged to take up golf instead.

He however shared that the "worst problem" is diet. He said: "To cut my alarmingly high levels of cholesterol, I need to cut out, completely, everything I like eating." Jeremy gave meat, butter and chocolate as examples. He added: "I've had a week now to live in the new regime and it’s horrific."

He went on to share that it's recommended he give up drinking alcohol and increase the amount of exercise he does too. Jeremy added that although he previously "didn't really care" about the potential impact of his lifestyle, his recent experience has left him realising that he wants to live "a little bit longer". He shared that seeing his grandchildren grow up and visiting the Galapagos Islanders remain two of his ambitions.

Jeremy opened up about the operation in a column for the Sunday Times last weekend. He said that he had struggled using stairs whilst on a holiday and then a "sudden deterioration began to gather pace" when he got home.

As reported at the time, the former Top Gear host shared that he felt "clammy," experienced a "tightness" in his chest and had "pins and needles" in his left arm. Concerned of a potential heart attack, he sought medical attention and ended up going to hospital in an ambulance, where he said they ruled out a heart attack following an ECG, blood tests and X-rays.

It's been stated that he was subsequently taken to an "operating theatre" and Jeremy suggested that a doctor had told him he may have been just days away from death. He said: "It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way." Jeremy went on to have a stent, which has been described as a device that works to prevent future heart attacks by improving blood flow to the heart, fitted.

Since sharing the news, the presenter has teased over the impact of the health issue. After expressing gratitude for the "supportive" messages he's had, he told the Sun: "I just have to not do any manual labour or dishwasher emptying for the next four years. At least I think that's what the doctor said."
