Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola and her now fiancé Justin May have a heartbreaking family update.
In an episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation that aired Thursday, November 21, viewers saw May propose to the 37-year-old reality star after over two years of dating. However, this was not before she shared some sad news.
Early in the episode, the Jersey Shore OG explained that she had become pregnant through in vitro fertilization. However, the round of IVF ultimately did not take, which resulted in a miscarriage.
"This has been a very long process, it's been a lot of shots, it's been a lot of hormones," Giancola said. "Just the thought of even being pregnant was such a magical moment for me, and just to have that taken away—it's devastating for me."
Thankfully, Giancola has a good support system around her. She continued, saying that May has been very supportive throughout this journey.
"He's so positive and uplifting," she said. "He's so special to me, and I just am so thankful for him. He's been by my side through this whole thing. I just love him."
Later on in the episode, viewers saw May pop the big question to her. The proposal took place during a birthday dinner for Giancola, whom May surprised with friends and family. During the dinner, May got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
Toward the end of the episode, she raved over the proposal and expressed her gratitude for having May in her life.
"I feel like the luckiest girl in the world," Giancola said. "Justin coming into my life made my life a million times better. He is just everything I could ever ask for in a man. He's patient. He's supportive and I just love and adore him so much."
Giancola and May first revealed their relationship in November 2021 with a Thanksgiving post. However, an August 2022 Instagram post commemorating a year of dating indicated that they had begun dating a few months before Thanksgiving. Their relationship began after Giancola ended her two-year engagement with ex Christian Biscardi.
