Joe Alwyn makes rare comments about his split from Taylor Swift

British actor Joe Alwyn and pop superstar Taylor Swift dated for six years before their split was reported in early 2023.

Now, Alwyn, 33, has made some rare comments about his past relationship with the hitmaker, 35, in a new interview.

Speaking candidly to The Guardian, The Brutalist star said he never worried about their romance "overshadowing" his career achievements.

Instead, he chose to follow the path of many in the public eye and "just try and ignore it".

The publication reports that when it was suggested he "must just want to move on" Alywn made it clear, "that's something for other people to do".

"We're talking about something that's a while ago now in my life. So that's for other people. That's what I feel."

Swift has since moved on herself with American NFL star Travis Kelce.

Alwyn previously touched on their split in an interview with The Sunday Times Style, explaining, "I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years."

"That is a hard thing to navigate."

He was asked if he had heard The Tortured Poets Department – the album Swift released in 2024 after their split – and began: "In thinking on what I was going to say, I would think and hope that anyone and everyone can empathise. … This isn't a direct answer to your question, but just thinking about what I want to talk about."

Kelce, 35, has revealed he and the superstar connected after one of her team member's passed his number on to her.

"She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out," he explained WSJ Magazine

He said somebody was "playing cupid" for them.

"There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was. I had somebody playing Cupid."

The loved-up pair debuted their relationship in 2023 when Swift attended one of his games.

In December, the Lover singer hung up her tour boots as she wrapped up the Eras Tour after an almost two-year run.

"This tour has been the adventure of a lifetime, and I speak on behalf of my band, my crew, who all left their families and spent time away from everything they know and love and performed when they were sick, when anything was going on in their lives, they made sure this show happened for you," she said as she wrapped things up.

"We will never forget you giving us that moment."

The superstar performed a total of 150 shows worldwide for fans.

"It was rare. I was there. I remember it. ♥️," Swift wrote in one of her last posts about the momentous tour.
