Joe Rogan shared why a podcast interview with Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t materialized yet, mere days after his viral “Joe Rogan Experience” interview with former President Donald Trump.
The Austin, Texas-based podcast host, who told Trump during Friday’s episode that he sincerely hoped an interview with the Democratic presidential nominee would happen, confirmed Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, that “the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast” yet.
“They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour,” he wrote. “I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin. My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being.”
Earlier this week, Harris’ campaign confirmed that they had discussed a possible appearance with Rogan, but it didn’t work out because of her schedule.
While Rogan concluded that he hopes that “we can make it happen” before Election Day, his casual rejection of such a high-profile interview — one he has brought up on his show before — has left social media users both baffled and frustrated.
Rogan was criticized for platforming Trump on the podcast Friday, but also praised for pressing the former president about his false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
Later in his interview, Rogan said he could have “a fine conversation” with Harris if she came on the show.
“I think I’d be able to talk to her,” he told Trump during their interview. “I wouldn’t try to interview her, I’d just try to have a conversation with her and hopefully get to know her as a human being. That was my goal having her on, to get her to express herself.”
The episode has since amassed more than 37 million views on YouTube alone.

Rogan, who rose to fame as a stand-up comedian and the host of NBC’s “Fear Factor,” has unwittingly become one of the most polarizing media figures of his time — and has had controversial figures like Elon Musk, Mel Gibson and Alex Jones on his show.
The New Jersey-born comedian has also previously interviewed progressives like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Andrew Yang, however. His show, under a reported $250 million Spotify contract, has become the most popular podcast in the world since launching in 2010.
Harris recently helmed a media blitz of her own, however, with appearances on “Late Night with Stephen Colbert,” “60 Minutes” and “The View” — and delivering a long-form interview on the popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast earlier this month.
