Jonathan Majors, Ex-Girlfriend Grace Jabbari Settle Defamation, Assault Lawsuit

Months after landing his first film role following a highly-publicized trial and misdemeanor assault conviction, Jonathan Majors has settled a lawsuit brought by ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who claimed he subjected her to extensive physical abuse.

Lawyers for both sides on Thursday informed the court of a deal to resolve the case. Terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed, though Brittany Henderson, a lawyer for Jabbari, said the lawsuit was “favorably settled.”

A representative for Majors didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

In March, Jabbari sued Majors for battery, assault, malicious prosecution and defamation, which arose from the actor denying that he abused the professional dancer and movement coach leading up to and after his conviction. In a lawsuit filed in New York federal court, she detailed several instance of alleged physical violence from 2021 to 2023.

This included an incident in 2022, when Majors allegedly “picked Grace up in the air and threw her against the hood of her car” before threatening to kill her. “Majors then started hitting Grace’s head against the marble floor while strangling her until she felt she could no longer breathe,” stated the complaint.

Jabbari was dissuaded from seeking medical treatment by Majors, who said via text, “They will ask you questions, and as I don’t think you actually protect us, it could lead to an investigation even if you do lie and they suspect something,” the lawsuit said.

The messages about the alleged incident came up as part of Majors’ criminal trial (though any alleged incident preceding it was not discussed).

In June, Majors was tapped to star in supernatural revenge thriller Merciless from filmmaker Martin Villeneuve. The story, which is set for a fall shoot, centers on a CIA interrogator who is forced to defeat a malevolent force that has overtaken the woman he loves.

Searchlight’s bodybuilding drama Magazine Dreams, which was shelved due to the actor’s legal troubles and saw Majors receive rave reviews, may hit theaters next year. Earlier this month, he revealed news of his engagement to Megan Good.
