Justin Baldoni‘s lawyer absolutely thinks Ryan Reynolds took a jab at his client in Deadpool & Wolverine — and he’s pissed!
We all know Justin has been in a legal battle against his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively for several weeks after she accused him of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign. Well, after her allegations surfaced, fans took a look back at her hubby’s latest Marvel movie and they realized there’s an entire character that seems to be mocking the Jane the Virgin alum!

That character is Nicepool, played by Ryan with a man bun, reminiscent of Justin’s former hairstyle (which he wore for years before chopping it in 2023). In the movie, he comments on his female counterpart Ladypool — yup, you guessed it, played by Blake — telling Deadpool and Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine:
“Oh my goodness, wait til you’ve seen Ladypool. She is gorgeous. She just had a baby too and [you] can’t even tell.”
Deadpool then replies:
“I don’t think you’re supposed to say that.”
But Nicepool simply says:
“That’s OK. I identify as a feminist.”
OK, so that does sound like a dead ringer for the Man Enough podcaster! And his lawyer, Bryan Freedman agrees. In an interview on Tuesday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show posted to her YouTube channel, the attorney was asked what he thought of the viral movie moment, and he said:
“What I make of that is that if your wife is sexually harassed, you don’t make fun of Justin Baldoni. You don’t make fun of the situation. You take it very seriously, you file HR complaints, you raise the issue and you follow a legal process. What you don’t do is mock the person and turn it into a joke.”
But, like, she did bring up her concerns and file complaints, and it allegedly didn’t change her experience on the project. Eventually, she also started up the legal process. It’s not like she’s just joking about it!
Bryan argued that there was “no question it relates to Justin” while noting that the “hair bun” and “the comment about the pregnancy” made it “pretty obvious what’s being done.” (Blake had recently given birth to her fourth child before filming began, and she accused her co-star/director of criticizing her body.) He continued:
“But again, if somebody is seriously sexually harassed, you don’t make fun of it. It’s a serious issue.”
There was also a joke about an intimacy coordinator — and we know that’s been a major point of contention! Still, everybody processes things their own way, no? Maybe she and Ryan needed an outlet for their frustration? Who is he to tell them how to move on after this situation?
