Justin Baldoni will 'shock everyone' with Blake Lively countersuit, claim lawyers

Blake Lively filed a legal complaint against This Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni on December 20. Lawyers for the actor and director have now claimed the 'truth will come to light' as they launch a legal response

Justin Baldoni, 40, is reportedly set to countersue his ‘It Ends With Us’ co-star Blake Lively, 37.

Blake shared an 80-page legal complaint against Justin on December 20, after she and Justin reportedly had a contentious time working together on the Hollywood movie, which was released back in August. In part of her complaint, she alleges that Justin made a concerted effort to “destroy her reputation.” Blake claimed that Justin's alleged behaviour caused her “severe emotional distress.”

Now, Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has shared his client’s intent to file more than one lawsuit in response to Blake’s claims. “I am not going to speak to when or how many lawsuits we are filing but when we file our first lawsuit, it is going to shock everyone who has been manipulated into believing a demonstrably false narrative,” Freedman told Deadline on Saturday.

“It will be supported by real evidence and tell the true story. In over 30 years of practicing, I have never seen this level of unethical behaviour intentionally fuelled through media manipulation. It reminds me of what NBC tried to do to Megyn Kelly and Gabrielle Union and we all know how that ended up. Standby.”

The attorney also shared a statement with People on Sunday, saying in part: "This is not a response or countersuit — it’s a deliberate pursuit of truth.” Much like in his statement to Deadline, he reiterated: “In over three decades of legal practice, I’ve never witnessed such unethical behaviour, fuelled by those who abuse their power and manipulate the truth.

“This isn’t an isolated case; it’s a recurring pattern in Hollywood and the mainstream media where careers and reputations are destroyed to maintain control.” He concluded: "The truth will not only come to light — it will dismantle the illusions propped up by those who believe themselves untouchable."

In Blake’s legal complaint, she claims that a meeting was held back in January to address Blake's claims and her demands for working on ‘It Ends With Us’ concerning Justin’s alleged behaviour. Demands addressed in the 'It Ends With Us' team meeting reportedly included "no more showing nude videos or images of women to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni's alleged previous ‘pornography addiction,’ no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew's genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake's weight, and no further mention of Blake's dead father.”

After Blake’s complaint came to light, Freedman immediately released a statement refuting the claims. It read in part: “It is shameful that Ms. Lively and her representatives would make such serious and categorically false accusations against Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios and its representatives, as yet another desperate attempt to ‘fix’ her negative reputation which was garnered from her own remarks and actions during the campaign for the film; interviews and press activities that were observed publicly, in real time and unedited, which allowed for the internet to generate their own views and opinions.”
