Kate Cassidy shares the important reason she had to leave Liam Payne to return home

Kate Cassidy has spoken about her reasons for returning home and leaving boyfriend Liam Payne in Argentina for the first time.

Kate had been with Liam in the days leading up to his death. However, just four days before he tragically fell to his death from the balcony of his third floor hotel room, she left Argentina and returned to her home in Florida.

Speaking for the first time in an interview, the model shared the reason she decided to leave, insisting she is not to blame.

Revealing she was watching TikTok on her phone when the call came in to tell her Liam had died, she said: "I'm not to blame, I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. "

Kate—who had been in Argentina with Liam for two weeks before she departed the country—returned home without him to care for their rescue dog, Nala. And while she was there, she had taken it upon herself to put up all the couple's Halloween decorations.

Excited to show him the final results, the 25-year-old had text Liam saying, "I can't wait for you to get home and see the house."

"We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur. It was a tragic accident and no, I never did think (he might die young). But, you know, we did have our own separate lives — this wasn’t the first time we have travelled separately", she told The Sun.

"I just never thought this would have happened, that it would turn out the way it did."

She revealed that she has been continuously phoning Liam's phone to listen to his voice on this voicemail, but can't bring herself to listen to any of his music.

She described the late musician as one of the greatest people she'd ever met and revealed that after the pair met at a bar in South Carolina in September 2022, Liam cancelled his flight home and they continued their first date for 48 hours, going bowling and then checking into a hotel.

"We were lying in bed watching a movie, and he said 'Would you like to be my girlfriend and would you want to move in with me? Like, I really love you,'" she revealed.

She compared their relationship to a fairy-tale, admitting he had told her she gave him a chance of "normality" in his hectic life.

She also shared that they had made plans to marry and have children.
