Kelly Brook has insisted she’s ‘childless by choice’.
The 45-year-old TV star – who has been married to Jeremy Parisi since 2022 – has revealed she’s enjoying her ‘beautiful life’ without the pressure of trying to start a family after previously suffering a number of devastating miscarriages with previous partners.
‘We haven’t tried for children, we haven’t gone down the IVF route. We’ve not even looked into it and I think we are all the more happier for it to be honest,’ she said.
‘I am actually childless by choice at the moment, it’s not something that we have considered and I don’t think that should be a taboo.’
Kelly knows that parenthood can bring ‘a lot of happiness’, but she has also seen the way it adds ‘a lot of stress’ to people’s lives.
‘I’m surrounded by a lot of families with kids and I see it brings people a lot of happiness, but I also see it brings people a lot of stress,’ she told The Sun.
‘Jeremy and I love to be around family we really do but we also love to travel and do our own thing. We love our dog. It’s not like we are completely selfish, we do have pets.’
Kelly has ‘been through pregnancies and miscarriages’ in the past, and it’s made her reconsider her future plans with Jeremy.
‘I know how traumatic and devastating they are on you and on your relationship, I have been down that road with previous partners and it is a lot,’ she added.
‘I look at the beautiful life we have and how we don’t have the burden of that.’
She feels being open about her decision not to become a mum is a ‘brave thing to say as a woman’ and admitted she’s not sure if she ever really wanted to start a family but previously went along with it because it’s ‘expected’.
The loved up couple recently travelled together for BBC series Celebrity Race Across The World, and she recently revealed they both remain ‘focused’ on other priorities for the time being.
‘We have our little fur baby dog, Teddy, but I’m not sure about having children yet. At the moment we are focused on work and where we want to live in the world,’ she explained.
Kelly pointed out that deciding on such a big commitment like parenthood will be easier to do when the couple know where they will be living.
She told OK! magazine: ‘It’s very hard to think about children when you don’t know where you might be living. We need to be more settled before we think about children.’
She pointed out that her own mum – who became a mother herself at 17 years old – taught her ‘not to rush into’ the idea of having children.
‘I think my drive comes from just wanting to explore the world and be independent financially,’ she pondered.
‘It comes from my mum teaching me not to rush into having kids because she was 17 when she had me, so she made me feel that life was there for the taking.’
Kelly and Jeremy have been spending a lot of time in Italy in recent years and have even been working on their own reality show featuring the couple attempting to harvest olives at his family’s estate in Arpino and she recently admitted they are hoping to spend more time in the region in future.
In a post on Instagram, the former Big Breakfast presenter wrote: ‘Arpino is where we were married and is definitely a place we will be spending more time in the future and I’m looking forward to learning more about the business of olive oil farming.’
Kelly and Jeremy married in July 2022 in the Italian town of Civitavecchia with the extravagant ceremony reported to have cost around £500,000.
However, their big day was almost ruined by a rainstorm which forced them to move the outdoor reception under cover.
Speaking on Vicky Pattison’s The Secret To podcast, Kelly previously explained: ‘It was like biblical rain, you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
‘It had not rained in that region for eight months and I don’t think it has since. I look completely stressed and with straggly hair. Jeremy watches the wedding video all the time but I can’t face it yet…
‘We were winging it the whole way. It made it so much fun. And it gave it the essence and authenticity of it being Italian and that is what I really wanted. You can’t have the rainbow without the rain.’
