Fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta are awaiting news regarding season 16. Of course, it has been filmed, and all signs say the show will return in early 2025. However, one fan-favorite face that will be missing for much of the season is that of Kenya Moore. Now, she’s opening up in a new interview about how her businesses are doing and receiving support from Andy Cohen. She is also apologizing.
Fans will recall that reports surfaced over the summer that Kenya had displayed revenge porn of Brittany Eady at a filmed event. Following this, some sources say she was suspended, while others say that Kenya walked away from the series due to feeling unsafe.
Recently, Kenya stopped by the Tamron Hall Show for an exclusive interview. They addressed the Brittany drama during which Kenya appeared to take “full accountability” for her actions.
“Hindsight is always fifty, fifty,” Kenya began. “If I could do it all over again, I believe the photos were very distasteful, and I elevated the situation. I’ve elevated situations before, and I’ve taken full accountability for the things that I’ve done.”
Kenya then admitted she was “sorry” as she got emotional, admitting that she “didn’t have to take it that far.”
She continued, “But when I felt threatened, I’ve never had a child in a situation like this before. So, that’s why it escalated to the point where I was protecting not only myself, but my child.”
The topic turned to her businesses and how it has been reported that they have suffered following the incident. In response, Kenya says, “Well I have had predatory bloggers who have stalked me, who have put out rumors, who have created a false narrative about how my businesses are.”
She continues, “I built Kenya Moore Haircare with my own money over the last 12 years, and it became a very successful brand. I am in over 5,000 doors right now, and I have had, from this falling out, people thinking I was engaged in revenge porn starting to complain to some of the retailers.”
She then confirmed that one retailer was considering removing her products from its shelves, but she still doesn’t know where she stands with them. However, she also says 5,000 other stores are adding her hair care line next year.
Kenya then says, “It is a reality show, and it’s interesting how much vitriol I received from people thinking I was engaged in revenge porn, which I never was. I was never accused of that from anyone on the show or the network.”
Tamron then asked if Kenya is still in contact with anyone from Bravo about returning to the series in some form.
She replies, “Yes, I’ve had some conversations. Do you know who has been such a great support system for me during all this? Andy. Andy Cohen. He has called, he has checked on me, he has given me advice, and I feel like he’s a very good friend, and I just appreciate the support.”
She then says, “And so many people at the network. That was my family for 12 years. I love them, and I feel like they love me. It was just a really unfortunate situation.”
They then discuss how Kenya’s actions seemed misplaced and why she decided to walk away from the series.
Kenya says, “It’s in a different space and a different time. I think, unfortunately for the network, it’s probably a decision they didn’t want to make. I didn’t feel that we were seeing each other’s side. I didn’t think the investigations were matching up with what actually happened for me.”
She goes on, “So, we decided to take a break for right now.”
The topic of Kenya “popping up” at a reunion show then comes up.
She says, “I think it’s important to have my point of view because I haven’t done interviews. I haven’t had my say so that’s a little bit strange for me. I’m here today because you asked me to come and tell my side of the story, and I appreciate that because I feel this is a safe space.”
She adds, “It’s unfortunate because I started off as a housewife, longest running on this series, and now I don’t have a voice.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Kenya stated that she takes full accountability for what she did at the hair spa event in showing explicit pictures of Brittany. However, she also says that she knew Bravo couldn’t air the pictures, and she believed they would simply be blurred, as they have done with other scenes in the past.
