Kim Kardashian's new BFF is a Tesla robot and their first interaction is hilariously awkward

2 months ago 7

It's hard to think of a more odd couple than Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk. It's not that the reality TV star and the tech mogul have decided to pair up, rather, Kardashian seems to have a strange fascination with Musk's products, as demonstrated by showing off her latest acquisition: a Tesla Optimus robot.

While Kim isn't known for being tech-savvy, she does have a certain infatuation with Tesla products. A few weeks ago, the businesswoman took to social media to show off her brand new Cybertruck.

While the car gave her some trouble later on - like to the vast majority of buyers - that didn't stop Kardashian from getting her hands on one of Musk's company's latest developments. In a video on her Instagram Stories, Kim introduced it as her new "personal assistant."

Meet Kim and Optimus: The odd Couple

In a series of Instagram Stories, Kim introduced Optimus to her millions of followers, showing off some of the robot's programmed skills. She greeted it with a wave, and it waved back.

Then came the pi?ce de r?sistance: Kim made a half-heart gesture, and Optimus completed it perfectly. "Oh, you can do that!," she gushed, seemingly unphased by the android'suncanny resemblance to something out ofI, Robot.

But the hilarity didn't stop there. After testing its moves, Optimus performed a jogging motion followed by some hand waves. Kim's response? "Oh, you're Hawaiian!"-a comment that has already sparked a wave of memes and laughter online.

Gift or big splurge?

It's unclear whether Kardashian paid the hefty $20,000-$30,000 price tag for Optimus or if the robot was a gift from Musk himself. Either way, the stunt is proving to be excellent publicity for both.

Musk originally pitched Optimus as a multitasking marvel, capable of being a babysitter, gardener, or even a teacher. For now, Kardashian's Optimus seems more like a party trick, but who knows? Maybe it'll start walking her dogs next week.

With Kardashian's flair for turning the mundane into internet gold, it's safe to say this isn't the last we'll see of her mechanical BFF.
