Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards’ estranged husband Mauricio Umansky’s family drama is turning nasty in court, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Mauricio’s sister Sharon Umansky Benton filed a restraining order against their father Eduardo Umansky’s girlfriend, Simin Tabibni.
In the petition, Sharon, 52, asked the court to order Simin, 68, to stay 100 yards away from her. Sharon claimed Simin had bit and pulled her hair. She accused Simin of being verbally abusive every time she sees her father.
In her declaration, she detailed one incident of alleged harassment. She said that she picked up her father for lunch. When she dropped him off, she ran into Simin in the lobby of his building.
“She immediately started verbally attacking me and saying that I don’t have a right to visit my father. I took out my phone to record her because I am tired of the verbal abuse when she reached for my phone and yanked it out of my hand. As I was trying to get it back, she grabbed my right arm and bit me,” Sharon said.
She added, “I was able to prevent her from breaking skin but in the process, she yanked my arm.”
Sharon said Simin dropped the phone and she went to grab it. As she went to grab it, she claims Simin reached over and grabbed her hair to pull her down. “She pulled my hair twice as if to try to get me to the ground but I caught myself and didn’t allow it,” she wrote.
Sharon claimed that Eduardo asked Simin to stop. “He didn’t grab her because she bruises easily and then claims that he assaults her,” Sharon said.
Sharon said she was eventually able to leave the building. During another alleged incident, months prior, Sharon claimed Simin showed up uninvited to a lunch she was having with her father. She said Simin started yelling profanities at her which led to Simin being removed from the restaurant.
Sharon added, “She keeps him isolated, so I have been trying to visit more often which is why this is happening more. She hides his phone from him and is abusive to him as well but he is old and afraid to be alone and she claims to have some kind of evidence against him for some reason so he stays with her.”
She continued, “I don’t know what all that is but she is attempting to keep me away from my father while she convinces him to give her all his money.”
In response, Simin filed her own petition for a restraining order against Sharon. She claimed Sharon had “grabbed” her and “shoved” her to the ground during a recent incident.
As In Touch first reported, Mauricio, 54, and Sharon filed to place their 81-year-old dad under a conservatorship in August. They claimed their father’s girlfriend had become more controlling and had limited Eduardo’s visits with family.
In the restraining order battle, Sharon’s lawyer wrote, “Awkwardly, [Sharon’s] father is an 81 year old man living alone who had, had a sexual relationship with [Simin] for several years. [Sharon] and her family have grown extremely concerned about [Simin’s] erratic and violent conduct.”
Sharon said she filed a police report against Simin on September 17 after the incident at her father’s condo.
“The evidence will show that [Simin] has also repeatedly threatened and engaged in credible threats of violence or engages conduct that not only is physical violence but mentally disturbing on a repeated basis,” the filing read.
Sharon said she would be seeking a restraining order on behalf of her father against Simin.
In her response, Simin said she had been in a relationship with Eduardo for 17 years. She said he was in declining health. Simin said she was his sole caretaker.
Simin said Sharon never had a close relationship with her father and has not been involved in his care. Simin said she believed Sharon was getting involved “in the latter stages of his life” due to “financial considerations.”
Simin said Eduardo told Sharon he was thinking about marrying Simin three years ago. She said this caused a “troubling” reaction from Simin. She said Sharon tried to get her father to break up with her. Simin accused Sharon of making “outrageous accusations” about her to her father. She denied the accusations she was stealing from Eduardo.
Simin’s filing read, “On another recent occasion, [Sharon] communicated to [Simin] that she plans on ensuring that her mother (who was divorced from her father many years ago) obtain a large portion of his asset and for [Simin] to get nothing.”
The filing continued, “Recently, [Simin] was reliably informed that said ex-wife has, quite incredibly, attempted to engage in renewed sexual relations with the father, some 30 years after their divorce. Additionally, and in spite of [Simin’s] pleading that they cease their interference in [Simin’s] relationship with the father, [Sharon] and her mother have engaged in a persistent pattern of slandering [Simin] to various third parties. Their conduct has not only hurt [Simin], but damaged her name and career.” Simin denied she was keeping Eduardo isolated from his family.
A hearing on the matter was scheduled for this month.
In the conservatorship petition, Mauricio and Sharon claimed, “[Eduardo] is unable to resist undue influence and fraud and has been taken advantage of by his girlfriend. Over the court of the past eighteen months, [Eduardo] and [Mauricio and Sharon] have discovered that she has taken, secreted and appropriated more than $260,000 from [Eduardo] through undue influence, whether physical or emotional and/or fraud.”
The brother and sister continued, “During this time, [Eduardo] has written more than $260,000 worth of checks to his girlfriend for no reason other than she wanted it. In addition to those checks, there are an additional nearly $100,000 in expenses that have not [been] explained.” Mauricio said his father “is unable to stop this abuse and behavior and is asking for assistance in reigning in this spending.” A hearing on the matter has been set for later this month.
In July 2023, People reported that Kyle, 55, and Mauricio had been separated for “a while now.” The couple had been married for 27 years. Kyle and Mauricio have yet to file for divorce.
As In Touch first reported, Mauricio and his real estate company The Agency are also facing a federal lawsuit over $3.5 million in payroll protection program [PPP] loans that they are accused of not needing. Mauricio and his company moved to dismiss the case this week.
