Liam Payne's former fiancée is not the unidentified ex-partner who was reportedly staying at the same hotel.
The ex-One Direction star tragically died last week at the age of 31, after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The star passed away due to multiple traumas resulting in an "internal and external haemorrhage". However, a hotel employee alleges that while Liam was alone at the time of his death, an ex-partner was residing in the same hotel.
Speaking on an Argentinian TV show, Esteban Grassi stated: "He was seen alone but his ex-partner was around."
When questioned on El Trece programme Telenoche: "So she was staying at the hotel too", he replied: "Yes: before adding: "A floor above, yes" when further asked if she was above the third-floor suite Liam was in. Since this news broke, fans on social media speculated that the mysterious partner might have been Liam's ex-fiancée, Texan author Maya Henry.
But sources close to the late star have since refuted this. A source told the Mirror: "Maya Henry has never been to Argentina, and she was not back with Liam Payne."
Before Liam's death, Maya appeared on a social media podcast and revealed that Liam had been trying to reach out to her – despite her showing no interest. A source familiar with the situation added: "These are baseless and false social media rumours."
A snippet of the programme featuring part of the interview has been shared online and mentioned in other Argentinian media outlets, although it is unclear who Mr Grassi was referring to in his claim.
As one of the three hotel workers questioned by prosecutors, Mr Grassi's statement has sparked interest, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, Liam's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, had been travelling with him in Argentina but left just two days before his tragic death, citing a desire to return home to Florida.
Explaining her decision to leave, Kate told her online followers: "I was ready to go back... Honestly, I love South America, but I hate being in one place for too long. We were supposed to stay for five days, but it turned into two weeks and I needed to get home."
Liam's autopsy revealed 25 life-threatening injuries, including a skull fracture. While investigators do not suspect "third-party" involvement, they are still searching for his dealer amid speculation that someone from his hotel was supplying him with narcotics. Forensic experts have found traces of cocaine in Liam's body, but tests on the white powder have been "inconclusive". Reports in the US claim that he had pink cocaine in his system, a mixture of narcotics containing MDMA, ketamine, methamphetamine, as well as crack cocaine and benzodiazepine.
