One Direction star Liam had filmed scenes for a new project this summer, but following his death - his family are set to have discussions with Netflix on whether to release them
Liam Payne's X Factor auditionNetflix will meet with Liam Payne 's family to discuss releasing footage from his final TV project.
Former One Direction star Liam Payne was 31 when he tragically fell to his death in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires on October 16. Since then, investigations have now progressed with speed, resulting in five people being summoned to court by the presiding judge.
But while the investigations into Liam's death continue, streaming platform Netflix are now in discussions with the Strip That Down singer's family on whether to release Liam's final TV project. Bosses at the streaming platform have said that the show is ready to go but is waiting the blessing of Liam's loved ones before it thinks of releasing the series.
For You singer Liam had shot scenes to go into an upcoming talent show by Netflix entitled Building the Band. The scenes had been filmed in Manchester earlier this summer before Liam embarked on his ill-fated trip to Argentina.
The show also featured fellow X Factor stars Nicole Scherzinger, 46, and Kelly Rowland, 43. Both singers starred as judges on the hit ITV show, offering their expertise and critiques to each performing act.
According to Netflix, the show is aiming to put together the "next great music group" from a batch of fifty different singers; but the twist is that none of the potential stars will have met for the first time. Speaking to The Sun, an insider said the show will not air without Liam's family's consent.
"Netflix and the production company will meet Liam’s family to make sure they are happy with Building the Band airing in 2025," the source said. "Nothing will be finalised until they have given their blessing.
"Those who worked on it say it captures Liam in a beautiful light and highlights his passion for helping others," they added. "It is the last thing he worked on and he comes across so well."
Cat Lawson, one of the producers of the show, also chimed on the premise of the programme, calling it a "brave and bold undertaking". She went on to say that singers will get to form their own band "based on chemistry first"
Liam had firsthand knowledge of the process of forming a band, after he was put together with Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Niall Horan to form One Direction in 2010. The five-piece were brought together by Nicole and head judge Simon Cowell after the bootcamp stage of the competition - and would go on to finish in third place.
After their stint on the show, the band shot to worldwide fame as they released hit after hit from 2011 until 2016 when the band officially went on hiatus. During their massive dominance of the charts, the band were estimated to have sold a whopping 70 million records around the globe.
