The partner of former One Direction singer Liam Payne has made a subtle tribute to him, months following his tragic death.
Passing away at the young age of 31, Liam suffered a fatal fall from a third-story balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina last October. His untimely death sent shockwaves around the globe, occurring shortly after his girlfriend Kate Cassidy had departed Argentina to return to the United States.
An "internal and external haemorrhage" caused by multiple traumas was reported as the cause of death.
While still in mourning, Kate has chosen to honour her beloved Liam discreetly on social media. She recently took to Instagram to post a video in which she affectionately cuddles her dog Nala, whom she and Liam adopted together just months before the devastating incident.
Now, a relationship psychologist has examined and interpreted a concealed message in a TikTok upload from Kate. The poignant video, shared last month, depicts the 25-year-old seated on her porch, tenderly holding Nala as Coldplay's song "Sparks" plays in the background, reports the Mirror.
The heartfelt post came with the simple yet profound caption: "From foster to forever."
Speaking to The Sun, relationship psychologist Jo Hemmings analysed Kate's social media post and commented that it was her way of expressing sorrow.
Hemmings stated: "It's a way of showing her grief, because Nala has become even more important since Liam's death - like pets do for many people. It's a really sweet way of acknowledging Liam without doing it in an explicit way."
Kate opened up for the first time since Liam's untimely demise earlier this month. In an emotional interview with The Sun, she broke down in tears as she recounted her choice to go back to Florida just days before his passing.
She shared: "I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur. It was a tragic accident and no, I never did think (he might die young). But, you know, we did have our own separate lives - this wasn't the first time we have travelled separately."
Since Liam's death, Kate has been calling his old number just to hear his voicemail greeting, a poignant revelation of her continued attachment to his presence. She disclosed that she had moved out of their Florida rental home and returned to her native New Jersey.
Despite once finding comfort in falling asleep to his music, she admitted that now the tunes are too painful to listen to.
