Lidl unveils Christmas 2024 advert
Christmas is fast approaching, and the battle for the best festive ad has officially kicked off. Lidl's latest holiday ad, however, has left viewers scratching their heads due to its "royal connection".
The ad introduces a character named Emma, a young girl who helps an elderly woman retrieve her groceries after they spill on the street. In return, Emma receives a magical bell that makes her Christmas wishes come true.
Showing her generous spirit, Emma uses the bell to gift a warm woolly hat to a shivering young boy, allowing him to join other children on a magical sleigh ride through snowy scenes.
The festive ad also highlights Lidl's Christmas toy bank appeal and stars Ríona Gallagher, a young actress from County Antrim in Northern Ireland, as Emma.
But it's Ríona’s appearance that has got everyone talking due to her striking likeness to the nine-year-old Princess Charlotte.

Reactions poured in on social media, with one user on X saying, "Doesn't the girl in this year's #Lidl Christmas Ad look like the lovely Princess Charlotte and of course our late Queen Elizabeth II too?" Another chimed in, asking, "Is Princess Charlotte doing the @lidl_ireland Christmas advert?"
Ríona, age 10, has already made her mark in several TV and film roles. According to her mum, fans have noticed her similarity to Charlotte before.
She shared her own reaction with MailOnline: “I like that people think I look like Princess Charlotte because she is very pretty and she is a princess! It’s a nice thing for people to say.”
Meanwhile, royal watchers are hoping to catch a glimpse of Charlotte alongside her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, at a highly anticipated Christmas event in December. Kate, the Princess of Wales, will be hosting her annual Christmas Carol Concert on December 6 at Westminster Abbey.

It's been announced that Kate will continue her beloved Together At Christmas service for 2024. This year’s event, which takes place next month, marks her gradual return to public life after completing chemotherapy this summer.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said, “This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives."
They added, "Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need—individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive.”
The royal children, along with the Middleton family and other members of the Royal Family, including the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie, attended last year’s concert.
