Disney is ready to make a splash with the teaser trailer for its live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch.

Director Dean Fleischer Camp’s new version of the 2002 animated feature is set to hit theaters May 23, 2025. The leads include Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani and Kaipot Dudoit as David Kawena. Rounding out the cast are Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance and Hannah Waddingham, while original voice stars Chris Sanders, Tia Carrere, Amy Hill and Jason Scott Lee will return.

The Lilo & Stitch trailer shows the titular blue alien causing a bit of chaos at the beach. The first film focused on a Hawaii-based girl named Lilo who adopts a dog that turns out to be a genetically engineered extraterrestrial being with a nefarious purpose.

Camp helmed the new movie from a script by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, which is based on the 2002 film that was co-directed by Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin serve as producers.

During a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote his directorial work on The Wild Robot, Sanders teased his return as the voice of Stitch.

“I have been able to see a few things, and I can’t tell you what I’ve seen,” Sanders shared at the time. “But they allowed me to see some peeks of what they wrote, too, and it’s really cool.”

Camp directed A24’s Oscar-nominated 2021 title Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.

Disney has continued to prioritize its live-action remakes that focus on beloved characters. Director Barry Jenkins’ prequel movie Mufasa: The Lion King hits theaters next month, while the Rachel Zegler-led Snow White is set for release in March of 2025.
