Lisa Jordan purchased her dream home in Cork last year and one of the biggest selling points of the stunning property was that it reminded her so much of her childhood home.
Speaking to RSVP Home about the house she grew up in, Lisa said it was built by her parents and was very similar to what she now lives in.
“It’s very, very similar. That’s why I really fell in love with this home because it reminded me so much of my childhood home, which my mum and dad built — not physically built themselves but it was a self build. So when I saw this house it really brought me back to that, it just felt like there was a connection”.

Lisa's mum still lives in the childhood home, however Lisa’s dad has sadly passed away. Lisa said she always admired her parents for providing such a beautiful place for their family to grow up, which is something she wanted for her three children.
“I was always so proud of my home. I loved my family house so much and I was always in awe of my mum and dad for building it, and for my parents for creating such a lovely place to live in and beautiful gardens. I was so thrilled to do the same thing for my family.
“When I felt that connection to my parents’ home I could envision our lives here. My dad passed away so to have that feeling of ‘home’ here is so special”
“We bought this house with our hearts more so than anything else. Even when I went in and it was run down, there were holes in the ceiling and there was a lot of work to be done to it. I had been in new builds and lovely fabulous homes, but I literally walked in this door and was like, ‘Oh my God, this feels like home’.
“I could see beyond the worst. I knew it was the one because I loved it that much in its derelict state. Home is a feeling and when I was searching for houses, I just didn’t feel it. I couldn’t describe the feeling I got. This house was probably the most damaged we had seen, but I could see beyond it”.
