Live Nation has reportedly settled close to 100 lawsuits filed by people who were injured during Travis Scott’s 2021 Astroworld Festival.
He was scheduled to go to trial next month.
Dozens were injured, and 10 people died during a crowd surge after the venue reportedly sold too many tickets.
The rapper apologized for the incident shortly after the incident went viral. His attorney argued that he was not at fault.
“Like any other adrenaline-inducing diversion, music festivals must balance exhilaration with safety and security—but that balance is not the job of performing artists, even those involved in promoting and marketing performances,” his attorney Daniel Petrocelli argued. “Which only makes sense: Performing artists, even those who engage in certain promotional activities, have no inherent expertise or specialized knowledge in concert safety measures, venue security protocols, or site-design.”
There are still several plaintiffs left who have not yet reached a settlement so Live Nation and Scott could still be headed to court for trial.
