The Love Island: All Stars contestant has been called ‘misogynistic’ for his views
A video of Love Island’s Ron Hall talking about being a proud Donald Trump supporter is currently going viral with the reality star currently appearing on Love Island: All Stars. On a podcast he shares with fellow Love Island contestant Tanyel Revan, Ron says he supports Trump for his own financial gain and condemned people who have expressed disappointment in his endorsement of the US President. 'I do get called a “Trumpie” all the time,' he said. 'All of a sudden I’m “putting back women’s rights 200 years”, I’m “misogynistic”. Women absolutely bash me. When I spoke about his election, I think I lost nearly 1,000 followers in a day for me expressing that opinion. The old reason why I back Trump is because he makes me money in the markets. That’s literally it.’ The clip of Ron talking about his political stance has been doing the rounds on social media. In one quote, he appears to question whether or not Trump committed sexual assault, despite the fact Trump was found liable for sexual assault in a court of law last year. 'He’s had a pretty iffy past with sexual assaults,' Ron acknowledged in the video. 'I don’t support those actions. I’m not supporting Trump because he committed sexual assault, if he did. I’m not going to support him for those reasons. I support people who benefit me, my family, my friends. He benefits me, my family, my friends financially. Where I think it is wrong, is when girls blame me for being “misogynistic” or “putting women’s rights back 200 years” for supporting him, for being a fan. Blokes can’t have an opinion on anything without getting slandered.’ Now, viewers are reacting online. On TikTok one viewer commented, ‘Absolute f**king idiot’ whilst another wrote, ‘Damn, Ron was one of my faves. Byyyeee!’

Many have pointed out that it is, in fact, problematic to overlook Donald Trump's history with sexual assault, as well as his position on abortion and making sexist comments about women, just because he may or may not financially benefit you. Donald Trump has been accused of rape, kissing, and groping without consent multiple times – all of which he denies. The wider issue here is, Ron Hall's cognitive dissonance exemplifies exactly how Trump got elected despite his haunting past. Daisy Hall is a News and Entertainment writer on Grazia
