Brenda Song appears blissfully happy in her life with fiancé Macaulay Culkin and their two sons. There is just one problem — paparazzi.
During an interview with Bustle, published on Tuesday, January 7, the 36-year-old Suite Life of Zack & Cody alum gushed over the "special" event that was Culkin's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony — one that they shared with kids Dakota, now 3, and Carson, now 2.
"That was such a special moment. We couldn't have them miss that," Song shared, recalling the joy from the December 2023 event, in which the Home Alone star, 44, was presented with a star on the famed Hollywood Boulevard.
Their eldest son, however, "was so scared of all the cameras," the Last Showgirl actress noted, explaining, "That's one of the reasons why we sort of keep them away [from the spotlight]. They did not understand what was happening."
Culkin and Song's sons experienced another paparazzi incident at soccer practice, another confusing moment they couldn't comprehend.
"My son was like, 'Why is that man taking pictures of you, mama?'" Song recalled. "You could take pictures of me all day. I don't care. But when it's your kids, it's different. They didn't ask for this life."
The actors, however, are famously known for their child stardom — Culkin for his iconic roles in films like Uncle Buck, Home Alone, Richie Rich and more, while Song's Disney Channel past (Get a Clue, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) is also forever engrained in the minds and memories of Millennials.
As for Song and Culkin's relationship, the two try to keep things as low-key as possible for their children — and themselves.
Speaking on her new role in The Last Showgirl — starring big hitters Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis and more — Song gave insight into her relaxed relationship with "Mack," as she calls Culkin.
"I had just dropped off my son at preschool and was with Mack. We were sitting at Costco and it hadn't opened yet," Song described. "Mack was sitting there going, 'Babe' — he had never been to a Costco before we started dating — 'We're sitting in a Costco. I'm wearing Crocs. Costco's not even open yet. You've tamed the beast, honey.' And I was like, 'How dare you, sir!'"
Then, Song explained, "my agent calls me and she's like, 'Hey, I have this really great script for you. Do you have a second? What are you doing?' And I was like, 'Oh, I'm sitting in the parking lot at Costco before it opens.' She goes, 'I need to get you a job.'"
