Corona met Ingi by chance during an overseas trip, and their romantic spark has inspired her to move across the world to be with him. The pair are set to debut their love story on season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in July 2024 but fans are already curious if Corona and Ingi are still together.
How Did 90 Day Fiance’s Corona and Ingi Meet?
Corona is from Pennsylvania and met the Iceland native while on a crazy night out. “I remember standing he was standing in the doorway, like some Nordic statue,” she recalled in a teaser for 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. “I was exhausted and he let me take a nap in his bed. This is like a quality guy. I’m moving to Iceland because I did not want it to end.”
What Problems Have ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Corona and Ingi Faced in Their Relationship?
Despite having a passion-filled relationship, Corona questioned her decision to move to a foreign land. “I think I can handle Iceland, can Iceland handle me?” she asked her friends in a teaser clip shared by People. In another conversation, a family member had concerns about her moving overseas, asking her, “Are there Black people in Iceland?”
“There’s like five Black people in Iceland,” she candidly responded.
In addition to the ethnic differences between the United States and Iceland, the relocation meant giving up her spot in a prestigious midwifery program.
“My calling is to be a women’s health provider and a birth attendant. I have known this since I was a child, and my passion has only grown stronger over the years,” she wrote in a GoFundMe where she fundraised money toward her education. “Through it all, I have maintained my drive and passion, which led me to an acceptance from the school of my dreams, the University of Pennsylvania! Ivy League comes with a hefty price tag, so I ask my community to help. Please help me to achieve my dreams of becoming a leader in women’s healthcare and an advocate for the underserved population.”
Upon discovering that she might not be able to study the subject in Iceland, along with Ingi’s inexperience in relationships, the couple faces several challenges they must overcome to make their romance succeed.
During the season premiere, Corona’s family questioned how well she knew the man for whom she was giving up her dream. “So, we’ve only spent like 20 days together in person,” she told the group during a visit. “But I met him over a year ago.”
Besides the brief time they’ve spent together, the 90 Day Fiancé newcomer admitted she didn’t know her partner’s last name or birthday. After finding out that Ingi had never been in a relationship despite being 38 years old, her family was convinced “something’s wrong with him.”
“I don’t think anything is wrong with him, he was just waiting for the right person,” she said. Corona’s grandmother also felt Ingi wasn’t in love with the “real” her as Corona revealed she’d been “soft-partnering him.”
“So in times when I want to pop off, I take a few deep breaths and I come at it as [if] I was approaching like a Bunny,” she responded. “I just come at it real soft.”
Their problems continued during the October 21, 2024, episode when Corona’s friends claimed that they saw Ingi with other women despite being in an exclusive relationship with her for “six months.”
While the women said that they did not see Ingi “kissing” anyone else, they noted that they caught him “chatting” with other women.
Corona insisted that she was “fine” over the discovery, though her friends admitted that they had their doubts about the relationship in a private confessional. “I’m afraid she might’ve built some dreams, some expectations that can’t be met,” the pair told the cameras. “There’s no doubt in my mind that they love each other, but is it the real thing … Yeah I think it’s concerning.”
The pair also faced conflict while discussing their differing views of marriage during the October 28, 2024, episode. After Ingi admitted that he wasn’t sure about marrying her, Corona stayed overnight at a hotel and grew even more upset when Ingi showed up the next day without bringing her flowers.
Ingi explained that he was disappointed with how he responded to her questions about marriage, and the pair quickly realized that they weren’t on the same page when it came to their future together.
Are 90 Day Fiance’s Corona and Ingi Still Together?
Corona and Ingi have seemingly called it quits. While Corona shared an adorable Instagram Reel filled with memories of her and her partner in June 2024, Ingi reportedly revealed they have gone their separate ways. He broke the news while speaking to an Icelandic publication, according to a post shared by Instagram blogger Shabootydotcom in July 2024.
Meanwhile, Corona confirmed via her midwifery Instagram account that she moved back to the United States to attend the University of Pennsylvania.
