Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz, who recently turned NASCAR driver, has assured fans of his wellbeing after a heavy impact during the Truck Series race in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday night.

Having announced only last month his new full-time commitment to NASCAR driving, Muniz is still acclimatising to the challenges on the track - his recent scrape with danger being part of that learning curve.

After a significant collision on Lap 100 at the start of the final stage of the race, he was seen hobbling to an ambulance - a sight that no doubt caused concern among onlookers as he was clearly in pain after the hard impact.

However, Muniz later confirmed his health was not an issue: "I'm okay, yeah," the 38 year old told reporters. "Unfortunate. I got a good opportunity to run with some guys, I made some passes."

Muniz noted that despite some setbacks, the experience was instructive: "Lost a few spots on restarts, then went back out and passed them again. So it was good for me to figure out how to get by people, you know I haven't really gotten to do that much this year so that was really positive.

"I just wanted to keep going, I wanted to keep running. But there was nowhere for me to go and I got hit from behind into the No. 42 and then the No. 42 got moved and the No. 18 was right there stopped and I went right into him.", reports the Express US.

Ambitious and optimistic, Muniz is keen on completing a full season in NASCAR, aiming to showcase his skills and prove himself competitive amongst the sport's finest as he steps into the Truck Series full-time next season after cutting his teeth in the ARCA series.

"Obviously like I didn't have many races I got out of the car this year where I could go, 'Wow. Well, that was a great race That was a great win.' We had some issues. I just wanted to prove that I could I can battle with these guys, you know what I mean? And I think I can."

Muniz is set to join forces with Reaume Brothers Racing next season and he's buzzing about working with team owner Josh Reaume. "Josh the owner is ultra motivated, and, you know, we're gonna make big improvements in the offseason and gonna be ready to surprise people when we come back out next season."

"I'm going to Charlotte to film something on Monday. Then I'm in Vegas for the F1 race driving the Mustang doing hot laps driving celebrities around. Otherwise just gonna prepare with the team and just be as focused and ready as we can for Daytona."
