A wife has left the internet in stitches after capturing a hilarious scene from outside her home while her husband was away on a hunting trip.
Jake McCafferty (@baymccafferty), 33, had gone to hunt in Tennessee, but as fate would have it, a whole group of deer decided to show up in his own back yard. His wife, Baylee McCafferty, 29, couldn't resist sharing the comical moment on TikTok, where the footage quickly gained traction, racking up 2.2 million views and 363,400 likes.
"I thought it was so funny. He loves to hunt and that day he picked the wrong place," Baylee told Newsweek. "He did not have a good hunting trip. He said he only had one deer show up where he was."
In the now-viral clip, six deer can be seen peacefully gathered beneath the trees near their home, as if to taunt the unlucky hunter struggling to spot them in the woods.
Tennessee is known for its deer-hunting opportunities, and many people flock there each season for the challenge of bagging white-tailed deer.
Regulations by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency ensure that hunting is sustainable, with guidelines on seasons, bag limits and hunting zones.
Deer populations are closely monitored to prevent overpopulation and ensure a healthy ecosystem.
However, while hunting is largely accepted as a means of population control, organizations like PETA argue that hunting causes unnecessary suffering, as many animals endure prolonged, painful deaths.
Animal rights activists continue to question whether the practice is ethical or needed in modern society.
TikTok users were quick to chime in on the irony of Jake's predicament:
"Not the deer outsmarting humans after all this time," joked one viewer.
"They're like, 'He's in the woods. Let's go to his house,'" quipped Nikki.
Another added: "They knew where the good vibes were."
A user named Anna shared her own story, saying: "I swear they know. Every time my husband goes hunting, deer are in our yard while he's gone."
"Oh deer lets go on a trip out of the area," quipped one viewer.
Reflecting on the overwhelming response to her video, Baylee said:"Some of the comments have been so funny. I was hoping it would make people laugh, and it seemed to have done that."
